Monty Hancock

Music Producer

Monty Hancock on SoundBetter

I work quickly and preciesely, always with quality as a priority in what I produce. A notable production of mine is 'Lauv - I Like Me Better (Miro Remix)' which has now accumulated over 20 million streams and remains to be aired on the radio. I have extremely versatile producing capabilities which are proved in my large portfolio.

I have worked as a music producer for my own projects/aliases since 2012, and have been professionally producing for other artists and companies since 2016. I am a graduate from Newcastle University with a First Class Honours in Music, and am a practicing professional music producer, songwriter and composer.

I have over 8 years experience in Logic Pro, 10 years experience in Sibelius, and 2 years experience in Ableton Live - with a wealth of experience in a plethora of third party plug-ins. I have been a ghost producer, sound designer, lyricist, and run mastering services in my time as a producer. I have worked for the Japanese label ‘S2S Japan’, producing four tracks per week for the label which were predominantly Future House, Deep House, and Tropical House tracks all with vocals they supplied me. The songs I produced for them at the end of 2019 entered the Japanese Dance charts at No.20. Additionally, I produce for the label ‘BlueBedroom Records’ - the label associated with the YouTube channel ‘Aminium Music’.

I offer:

• Full music production, from inception to master, working closely with you to make sure the song adheres to your brief.
• Entirely original compositions.
• Full topline writing and lyric writing.
• A modern, sleek, and radio-ready production quality bespoke for the outcome you desire.

Interview with Monty Hancock

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: I would love to work with FINNEAS.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Mix as you go.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Electronic Music primarily. Then after that mostly Lofi Hip-Hop amd Lofi-House, Chill, Solo Piano, and experimental stuff!

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: In the studio, bringing my ability on the keys is the most valuable thing I bring instrumentally to a song.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: I bring a fullness and a sheen, yet still having the sensation of being sonically warm.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: Thinking of music like a 'jigsaw puzze' - if the vibe isn't right of a certain sound then I will keep searching for the sound that serves the song the best, and build my way up like that.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I have a Scarlett Clarett 4Pre which goes into my HS5's - for instrumentals I have been a professional pianist for most of my life so I use my Casio CDP-130 for that. I also use my Ableton Push 2 primarily for jamming out, extending ideas, and everything inbetween.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: I am particularly inspired by musicians from all branches of production, from FINNEAS, to Burial, to potsu, to Au5.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Instrumental production, vocal tuning and timing, mixing, and mastering.
