As the lead singer and songwriter/producer for the Canadian heavy rock band Rise In Vein, I've been on both sides of the creative process. I know what it's like to put your heart and soul into a song, but I also know what it takes to level up a song and make it a hit.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Highly recommend working with Stephane! We'd been discussing working together for awhile and I think the final mix we've now finished has been well worth the wait! He provided me with an excellent session with great songwriting and sounds that I was able to craft into a crushing final mix that we're all very excited about. Communication was excellent and he was a pleasure to work with. I look forward to doing more with him in the future!!

Interview with Stephane Aube
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: It's usually what you can't hear at first that really makes the difference between an amateur and a pro production. Small details in the instrumentation or the guitar tone, frequency of the kick drum or snare, presence of the loops or panning of the percussions, ambiance, room, etc...This is where most of the energy of a song lies. I really try to focus on those things and have a sonic idea of these details when starting to produce.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hard rock, Metal, and Pop, but I'm a fan of good music in general. If it's a good song, I'll def work on it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Speed - I'm known for being quick and efficient
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I consider every aspect of a song as being important. Simple details can derail the listener from that magic moment when you hear something that hooks you up. I'm good at creating punchiness, catchiness, and giving to a melody the driving wheels need to level up. I'm always trying to deliver the best version a song can be whatever the work I need to put in.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For songwriting and production, I usually ask for reference tracks and start layering some melodies. Once I feel I have something solid enough, I send the first draft to the client so we can start to tweak or add production on top off. Some clients will have ideas and demos, so I usually ask for a spin on them and I start from there. For mixing, I like to ask for references as it helps me to take a direction and have a sonic idea of what the client is aiming at. Whatever the work, I like when clients give me as many details as they can. It's important for me to capture the idea and get exactly where the client wants to go.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is half analog and half digital. I like to be able to navigate both worlds and get the best of each. I use Pro Tools and drive most of the instrumentation and vocals through a Universal audio 6176. I also use a Slate digital ML1 on vox and acoustic guitars. I work with a very big collection of plugins for production and mixing purposes. I also own guitars, and bass guitars and can record live drums or programmed drums depending on the need of the clients.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: What I do is mostly songwriting and production. Most of the time, clients send me a demo, a riff, a melody, or a reference track and I write a song and/or add production layers to an existing song and make it sound bigger and finished. I also do a lot of vocals for other artists. I have a very versatile voice and can sing clean pop, raspy rock or scream and growl if needed. I can also write and record guitars, bass guitars, and or drums to a track if needed
