I produce indiepop and electropop for independent artists, from demo to release-ready track. Arrangement, sound design, vocal production and mix, all in one place.
I work from your demo. You bring the song and the direction; I handle everything from arrangement to the final mix. My studio is built around analog gear, real synths and tape machines that give productions a warmth and depth that is hard to replicate otherwise.
My background spans classical composition, close harmony, punk, pop and electronic music. That range lets me bring in unexpected elements that still feel completely at home in your song.
I work best with artists who have a clear artistic direction and are ready to trust the process. If that sounds like you, send me a message.

Endorse Jaap Mol3 Reviews

Six stars hands down. Produce wise, arrange wise, synth wise and above all creative wise. This mastermind has got it all!

Working with Jaap is an absolute pleasure. He produced my latest songs and upcoming album. He is a wizard when it comes to production. His philosophy on music makes that he connects with you while catching the right vibe. He knows how to sprinkle that magic dust on your tracks, turning them into something truly special.
He has a really good ear for picking sounds. He works a lot with synthesisers, has a whole bunch of them in his studio.
Jaap's not just a producer; he's a musical genius. If you want your project to sound better than you ever imagined, hit up Jaap, you won’t be disappointed!
Jaap Mol is a heck of a producer. Jaap helped me and walked me trough the entire proces of making, producing and releasing my song In The Music, and i really enjoyed working with Mr Mol! We are currently working on more stuff and he learned me how to be a producer. I produce my own songs now, all because of his input. I am sp gratefull for Jaap and i think he is the reason I got into music!
Interview with Jaap Mol
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Ableton, a Juno 6 and a Roland Space Echo :)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Arrangement and knowing when something is finished. I can hear the shape of a song quickly and build toward it without losing the feeling along the way.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Mix & mastering engineer Nick Jongejan.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Nostalgic and full of surprising elements.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A record for Stella Warden, a series of singles for JUNCKER and remixes for my solo project.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Analog synths and instruments, I just like the sound better. Mixing in the box: it's less fancy, but you get so much control and possibilities and if you do it right it sounds just great.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Never hold back in asking quesions, it's ok to be really clear and direct (I'm Dutch :)) and the ultimate goal is always to create something that deeply resonates with you/
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been creating music since I was a kid, but the path to a professional career started 10 years ago when I accidentally got into a successful act and knew: this is what I want to do.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Create what you feel in the moment and never be scared to throw it away if it needs something else.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly synth and indie pop, but I have a solo project that is more neo-classical and focusses a lot on piano & strings.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotional depth and sonic character. I want every production to sound like it could only have been made for that specific artist.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For production & creation I like to work very intuitive. I like to throw a lot at the canvas and carve it into a wel worked out painting later on. I work mostly from intuition and feeling. In the mixing process I will make more technical decisions, but for me it's most important that I keep feeling a track, regardless if it's technically 'perfect' or not.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a studio at home were I spend most of my time and where all my synths are located. My piano is located at a studio close by, and that's the place where I also record vocals, strings or any acoustic instruments when necessary.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm usually very inspired by musicians that create without being limited in creativity. It's not specifically in the genre I usually work with, but I love to listen to Jon Hopkins, Sufjan Stevens, Fred Again.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do a lot of synth programming and overall song production: programming drums, playing (synth) bass, playing and programming (analog) synths and overall arrangment, like guitar, piano, strings or anything needed to create a killer track. I also do mixing.
