Vandi can sing everything from opera to bluegrass and everything in between. She has played piano since she was five, was a brass player in band, has written songs and musicals that have been performed and used in films, and is a great sight reader, good at harmonizing, and knows music theory and form at the graduate level.
With a master of music in vocal performance and a bachelor of fine arts in musical theater with minors in theater and piano, Vandi has a diverse skill set that has allowed her to perform professionally with opera companies, in musical theatre, in live theatre, in film, in jazz, and in contemporary music.
Vandi grew up with an artistic family including an aunt and uncle who are professional songwriters, a mother who was a classically trained guitarist and dancer, and a grandmother who was a professional painter. Her creative potential was nurtured from a young age.
Vandi has played piano since she was five years old, began taking voice lessons at twelve, has played trumpet, baritone, sousaphone, valve trombone, and drums, began undergrad as a voice and piano performance double major, and studied opera, electronic music, and pedagogy in graduate school.
Vandi has composed and arranged instrumental pieces, written songs and musicals, has written commissioned pieces for individual artists and films, and is a singer/songwriter who performs her own songs.
Vandi continuously strives to better herself and learn. She is an exceptional sight reader, has studied music theory at the masters level, and can harmonize easily. She especially enjoys collaborating with other artists to create new music.
