Interview with Potcat

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: RISE. is a track that i am very proud of, it started as a project with a vocalist but then i realised im better off alone so i did the whole track all by myself including writing the lyrics which are simple but important and now it is performing greatly and organically on Spotify, iTunes and all other platforms. You could find RISE by PotCat on all major streaming platforms and check it for yourself.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am working on New Releases all of the time. I am contracted with a distributor and i have to Release 40 Tracks in 2020. I have already accomplished 9 of and 4 remixes.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both combined. Because if you only use Digital that's pathetic. Analog is so important that you must combine.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I Will Give you More than what you Deserve.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: The fact that i can spend all my life in my studio creating music and living inside of the music i create.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: How much time is it going to take? My answer: if you give me 15 days, ill drop you a BOMB.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people don't understand that i create the Music From Thin air. it means I create Everything ! Not a single thing is copied.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: it depends on the client and their personality and their experience.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My Advice is to give me my time to create the best music. dont be stingy and if you like what you get consider tipping me and spreading the word.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Flute, Tamtams, Buzuk, Oud , chinese crash and chinese Violin.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started my career in 2007 when i was residing in Canada, then i got the chance to move to Cyprus where i worked full time as a resident DJ for several Clubs and Beach Clubs. During that time i didnt have anymore time for production. As soon as you moved to Prague that's when i started only Playing Live at Illegal Parties in Berlin and Prague and Amsterdam and that gave me much time to focus on my own production.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My Style is oriental techno.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: SATORI.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Never Copy anyone. Make things sound like you.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Techno, Deep House.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My Strongest Skill is Making the Beat and Bass and adding the Synth.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I make my Songs from ZERO. so i bring EVERYTHING

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My Work starts by creating a beat, an intro, a verse, a drop etc... Once this is done, i start with the Bass and the Groove and the additional drums sometimes. And from there once that is done, everything wild starts to penetrate my music gradually.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My Studio comprises of the DAW which is Logic Pro X, a few other programs which i have programmed myself and controllers such as Akai pads and Akai MPK and Akai MPK Mini and of course the Synth ! Without the Synth and if you dont know how to use it as a Synth than electronic music isn't for you. my Favourite which i always use is the KORG MONOLOGUE.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: My Main inspiration comes from the 1950's Arabic Tarab Scene such as Um Kalthum and Asmahan and so on. However being an Electronic music producer and a DJ i always look at those Idols for the Vibe but i never copy.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Taking the Genre and the Idea and the Vibe imagination from my client is the basis to start working on prototypes that could fit their demand. Three Prototypes are usually enough for a client to choose. Once the client chooses then the real hard work starts by adding more components to the Track and adjusting beats.
