Juno nominated engineer. Over 10 years working as a producer, mixer and recording engineer. I've been very fortunate to work on some awesome records over the past couple of years including Leith Ross' debut "Motherwell" and follow up single "I'd Have To Think About It" and many other singles and EPs with artists in Toronto and around the world.
I'm a recording/mixing engineer/producer working at Gordon Wragg Studios at Humber College in Toronto and my own studio at home. I've worked in Toronto for the last 10 years professionally in production/engineering, with a year and a half working at the Banff Centre in the rocky mountains as well. I've worked on all kinds of records from garage rock bands, to orchestral film scores, to live jazz records to chamber music, to carefully constructed pop records, and I'd be happy to work on whatever it is you're working on too!
I'm currently producing, mixing, editing, and playing instruments on your records remotely out of my home studio and would love to use my experience working on all kind of music to help your music come to life in the way you envisioned!

It was really such a privilege getting to work with Matthew on my song! From the very beginning he was able to take bits and pieces of ideas and turn them into a beautiful song that I'm proud of- he takes the time to create exactly what you envision. Matthew is truly a master at what he does. It’s clear he wants the song to be the best it can be and he’s a really great communicator. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with him again— he’s a gem!
Matthew is not only an amazing engineer and producer but an amazing person as well. He is incredibly invested in his work and will handle your mixes and productions with the upmost care and tact. It was a pleasure working with him and I would highly recommend his services to anybody looking for an engineer or producer!
I’ve had the chance to work with Matt on many instances over the last 2.5 years in various contexts, all with excellent results. As an engineer, he is quick, efficient and creative, achieving some awesome sounds in the process. As a mixer, he’s extremely technically proficient while also great at achieving tasteful and emotionally driven results. Not only does he deliver high quality products but he is a pleasure to work with. Friendly, easy going and generous with his time, Matt would be an excellent addition to anyone’s project.
Matthew is versatile and rock solid. I’m a guitarist/engineer and we’ve worked together in every combination musicians encounter. We’ve shared stages in Toronto playing with artists, he’s recorded me straight to tape at the Banff Centre, we’ve worked in studios together, he’s mixed recordings I’ve worked on. He shows up to rehearsal with songs memorized. He keeps his technical skills well honed through constant practice. He knows how to help artists realize their vision. His taste and intuition are excellent. In every instance Matthew is prepared, positive, and a joy to work with.
As far as people that I know, and I know quite a few engineers in the great city of Toronto - Matthew, occasionally known as Matt, is carving out his own sound while staying true to the mix. Some characteristics would be a high sense of musical aesthetics, dependable, and top level trained in his craft. He's worked with tons of epic Canadian acts, but still respects the indie artist who needs help bringing their dream alive. Regardless of how busy or simple your track is, I would recommend him for the job.
I've gotten to work with Matthew multiple times over the past few years, and he has proven himself to be an amazing asset in each instance! He works wonderfully over a broad range of styles, and makes sure that your vision is being executed with as much precision as possible. Being a musician himself, he is able to approach mixing from multiple vantage points. He is diligent with his work, communicative, and highly skilled, all while making the process super enjoyable! His suggestions are always tasteful, and quite often are the element that elevates the piece. You'll want him on your team!
Matthew has proven himself to be an exemplary talent in the recording field - those who get to work with him are fortunate. Matthew works quickly, smartly and efficiently. He is kind, reliable, conscientious, committed, supportive and professional. His attention to detail is outstanding, as well as his technical and musical ear. He is a skilled and versatile musician to boot. I often wonder how one human being can possess and pack so much knowledge, skill and expertise in to their brains, all the while being the most approachable, friendly and humble person ever. That’s Matthew in a nutshell!
