FABER fuses soulful vocals with rocky acidity, nodding to the sounds of Beyoncé and Nova Twins. Some of the names i've worked with include, Little Mix, Diana Ross, Girli, Waze, Maur, and July Jones. I've got a massive belt & I can sure give it some in a live setting.

- Q
Interview with FABER
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My next Rock/Alt EP (Under the alias Queen Laya) and figuring out stripped back/ orchestral arrangements for a very special gig - from a vision coming to life!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The excitement of seeing how well tracks do when they are released - It's like we have created a musical child and we are so delighted to see it grow, and for people to experience and enjoy the music just like we did when we first heard it in our minds. I love the creative freedom, and working with different people every day on different tracks. Blending sick ideas to make absolute tunes.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1). Do you have a guide track/inspo track for the song you're making. e.g "I want it to sound like..." 2). Are you releasing independently or with a label? 3). Do you know what you want for the topline or would you like to give me creative freedom? 4). When is your deadline 5). Do you have any future plans for the track once released?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Electrifying, Fun, Bold. Full of energy! If Enter Shikari had a love child with Beyonce.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: MNEK or Enter Shikari. MNEK's melodies just bounce around. You can tell there is so much knowledge and thought put into the tunes. Every song made is always a banger! Enter Shikari's lyrics are just one of a kind - The boys have a really distinct message about how they view the world and about self exploration. I feel like being in a room with them would be mind blowing, the things I could learn would be immeasurable - and our styles and voices would absolutely compliment each other.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always add as many harmonies and backing vocals as you can - It's nice to fill in gaps in the music - you can always make them more subtle in the mix for atmosphere..or take them out completely if you decide to in the end. More is better when you are initially writing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Soul, Pop, House and Rock.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: High belting, improvising and adlibbing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Always A big powerhouse belt! For Pop/Soul/House - Relatable lyrics that really suit the vibe and transport you to a memory or moment. For Rock/Alternative my lyrics are more introspective and emotional, that strike a certain emotion. I bring a sense of unexpectedness to Rock which comes from a brilliant fusion of love for genres that work so well together.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I write toplines, I usually improvise over the track a few times to see if any good melodies or lyrics come to the forefront. When I've got a few ideas that I really like, I start to build on those and think of better thought out lyrics, or how I can piece together an interesting story or narrative.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Listening to Beyoncé is where my love of music first began. I am also trained in musical theatre where I learnt how to high belt like Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, and all the powerhouse singers. Becky Hill, MNEK, Ella Eyre, Alex Mills, and Anne Marie are some of the names that i'm really vibing right now, and are really thriving hard in Pop/House at the moment. My early years were filled with lots of Soul, UK Garage, Pop, and R&B. When I entered my teens, I was immersed into the world of Rock after discovering my favourite band Enter Shikari. From there my music taste expanded, and I started liking bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Slipknot, Skunk Anansie and more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Vocal Topliner (Melody & Lyrics) Backing vocal arranger Touring Vocalist
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
