Cayso on SoundBetter

Professional mixing quick & affordable. 10 years of experience 1,000s of song plays Degree in Music Production 400,000+ plays on short form content created with songs I've mixed in the past year Specialize in hip hop I'm an artist and a producer, so I can interpret your vision easily into a mixing perspective to give you the best quality result.

I studied Music Production and Audio Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Years of experience producing and mixing for myself as well as other artists.

I have grown my own YouTube page by 800 subscribers in 2023 using entirely content and music produced and engineered by myself. So I know what works and what quality is necessary to make a song that will translate to new fans and perform well in social media algorithms.

That said, I also have a love of music and am always listening to top artists from Kendrick Lamar to Post Malone to Zedd. I always aspire to elevate each project I work on to the level of emotion and vibe that these professional artists achieve.

However, I'm still relatively unknown so I am able to offer my services at an extremely affordable price for the quality I am able to deliver.

I specialize in Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Electronic/EDM, however I am open to all genres and will commit to giving you a professional result you are pleased with.

If you're an everyday person with bills and a job, but you've got a little money to invest, and want to bring added clarity, loudness, and emotion to your mixes without breaking the bank, I am your engineer.

Interview with Cayso

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: JSWISS Awthenticity. I recorded the entire album in a full studio, setting up mics, recording live instruments, and mixed everything in a large studio I had access to at the time. It was a groundbreaking album for this artist and set the tone for a new level of excellence that they have carried forward throughout their projects to this day.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I have a lot of unreleased music that I'm finishing mixes on. Posting regularly on TikTok and YT, to grow my music and reach more people who may want to build together and utilize my skillset.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not currently.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. Analog too expensive haha

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll bring out your voice and personality.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Bringing someone's vision to life and giving them a new perspective on what their ceiling is and what their potential is. I've had several artists see themselves in a new light after they are able to hear what they sound like with a clear and quality mix. It sounds like a "real" song to them, and they suddenly sound like a "real" artist, and it affects how they approach their future recordings, knowing that their vocals can sound that good.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: How quick is the turnaround? I do it as fast as possible, but in a week or less.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I'm not sure haha

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What song do you want your song to sound similar to? What are your favorite artists? What is your vision for your sound and musical personality?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be as organized as possible with your files, and record the best quality you can. Better quality recording increases the chance for a better quality final mix.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Acoustic guitar, djembe, Bongos, headphones, mp3 player with unlimited songs and battery power

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been doing this 10+ years, never as my full time job, but I've had success here and there both popularity-wise and financially. I've been a pastry baker, line cook at a vegan restaurant, and currently I teach computer programming.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Vibey, Warm, Clear.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Oliver Francis. He's built a whole career as an independent artist and has such a unique sound.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Compare your track to a professionally released track you want it to compete with.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Hip Hop, Pop, Electronic, R&B

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Creating clarity with EQ and achieving loudness by making sure there's enough space in the mix.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Clarity, balance, and emotion.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I download all the stems, level everything, listen to the track and make changes that pop out to me. I listen to songs that have a similar sound, then once I've tuned my ears, I go back and keep working on the mix.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I built my own PC which I run Ableton Live on, and I mix in my Sony MDR-7506 headphones.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Diplo, Disclosure, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Single song mixing and mastering.
