Hello! If you need help taking your songs and bringing them to life with professional sounding demos for commercial use/ for pitching to publishers/ or just personal gratification I can help. From intimate to fully produced!
I have been a professional musician for the last 15 years. Being able to play all over the world in various groups and studio and covering any genre has really honed my ear to what makes a song great. If you would like to make your song come to life I would love to help. I am honored to be endorsed by Gretsch Guitars, Shure Microphones, and D’Addario strings and can play a wide array of instruments from guitar, keys, bass, mandolin, banjo, and so on. Every song is different and I know what it takes to serve a song. Some need full production with a rocking band and multiple voices while other need just an acoustic guitar and a single vocal. Also I can work quickly and efficiently without cutting corners. Thanks so much for looking at my profile and let’s make some music together!

Interview with Wes Lunsford
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The Young Fables as a whole is probably the project I am most proud of. Being able to craft a group and the songs from the ground up and grow it into a national touring outfit has been incredible.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am doing various demos for songwriters and I'm working on a Jazz EP that is just a single vocal and one guitar. Also I have a hard rock project that I have been working on.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Laurel Wright is a great singer!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I have recorded with both but I prefer digital because the technology has gotten so advanced it so easy to get what you need out right this second. If I have an idea I can literally just plug in and capture it exactly without having to setup a bunch of gear first.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will always get my best work. I am my own worst critic and always want to put my best effort forward.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love being able to get up every morning and work on something I love. It is never boring. Somedays its playing in front of crowds and others its sitting in a studio. I love being able to see a song come to life.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you do full production? Yes I can! I can play most needed instruments for demos and can program drums. Do you have the right guitars for the track? Yes! I have spent and lifetime tracking down pretty much any sound need guitar-wise.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That as long as you are technically great it's easy. Sometimes it knowing what the song needs. Its knowing when to shred and when to play the melody.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do you need: just guitar tracks? full production? Are there any reference recordings you are hearing in your head for this track?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have faith in your songs!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Gretsch White Falcon, my Focusrite interface, my condenser microphone, my computer, and cables/headphones. I would be set for life!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been playing profession for over 15 years. When I was young I played in a lot of Rock and Heavy Metal bands then I got really into Jazz and got a B.M. in Studio Music and Jazz Performance. I toured China playing Jazz and R&B and thats when I fell in love with Country music and moved to Nashville and have been playing and writing as half of the group The Young Fables ever since.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I have a wide and varied style because I love guitar. It doesn't matter the genre I want to know it all. So I feel like a chameleon.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I don't have anyone specific I would love to work with. I am extremely happy to work with anyone who loves music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get the right take!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I do a lot of Americana and Country music but I am also very comfortable in Jazz and R&B and Rock and Heavy Metal
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is always putting the song first before anything.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have 15+ years of full time professional musician experience where I have played music all over the world in various group, in different studios and covering every genre from jazz to country to rock to heavy metal. I know what it take to craft a good song and having played in front of audiences for so long I know what people want.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the project because I believe that every song is different. If I am sent just lyrics then I am starting at the ground up to make the chords and melody fit the message. If I am sent a work tape then I listen for what the writer is trying to convey before I start. If I just need to do guitars then I listen close to find the spots for me
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio that runs with Logic with a Focusrite interface. There are a plethora of guitars (acoustic/ electric/ nylon string) and various instruments (bass/ mandolin/ banjo/) my keyboards are all recorded midi and I can program drums.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love good songs and to me what makes a good song is the music behind it, otherwise it would be just a poem. I love hearing a song that blends the emotion of the lyrics to the chords and notes played. Its really magic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have been a session guitarist for the last 15 years but i also fully produce demos of songs for clients. That includes bass/ keys/ programming drums/ mandolin/ banjo/ etc. I work closely with a female singer also if that is needed.
