Multi-platinum Engineer and left of field Producer. Your imagination is what matters - let's make it audible. I've had 15 years experience, multiple top ten records, worked with I've worked with: Nile Rodgers, Rihanna, Craig David, Chase & Status; too many late nights and not enough coffee. All I need now is to hear something interesting from you.
Freelance producer and tracking/mix engineer with over a decade of experience at the top of the recording industry. Projects with talented acts on Sony, Universal and Warner Records, multiple top five records, and a priceless wealth of time with production greats such as Fraser T Smith, Jim Abbiss, Dave Bendeth, Youth and Chase & Status.
Having started my career at the legendary RAK Studios in London, I became the recording and mix engineer for double-platinum selling drum and bass act Chase & Status (including featured artists Rihanna, Pusha T, Nile Rodgers, Craig David) before moving on to engineer and produce projects for Plan B, including his UK top five record "Heaven Before...". As a freelance engineer I work regularly in every top London studio, primarily Metropolis, Miloco and Dean St Studios, where clients I have worked with include ASAP Rocky, Little Mix, M.I.A, James Bay, Future, Rita Ora, Courtney Hadwin, DJ Snake, Tom Grennan, Stormzy, Arrow Benjamin, Bastille, Chase & Status, Lily Moore, Plan B, Fraser T Smith, Wayne Hector, Young Thug, and Slaves.
More important than any of the above, is your music. Send me over what you're working on, I love getting my ears across interesting new ideas; music producers are only midwives to your musical babies, the focus should always be on you, not us. Let's maximise what makes your music unique.
Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Rob Macfarlane
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'll always maintain that the first rule of music is to remember that it's a form of expression. What are you telling people, and how are you phrasing it? Is there anyone else out there saying the same thing as you? I always try to find the element that's uniquely you, and then make sure it's impossible for the audience to ignore.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I caught the music bug in the early 2000's, so my taste runs along different lines to what my CV might suggest. I'm a massive Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle nerd, with both of those bands being highly influential in my early interest in music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I can share more than one; just get in touch and I'll explain every thing that gets done!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an arrangement with the legendary Dean St Studios in London's Soho district - it's equipment list and history make me very proud to to call it home. Full 48 channel SSL Duality desk, massive ATC monitoring, the full line up of classic outboard equipment (Neve, 1176, LA2A's etc).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Throughout my career I've become hugely inspired by the studio legends I've had the good fortune to work alongside, and each of them has led to a new perspective that I've internalised into my own work.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My work is highly varied at the moment - between production projects with regular collaborators I cover at three or four major London studios. Using this week as an example I've tracked vocals for a high profile US rapper, mixed an acoustic pop track for a development band and remixed a heavier rock track for a returning client.

With productions I'm happy with as many revisions until you feel the song is right - I'll always let you know long before things go too far, usually four or five revisions do. Mixes you get three!
