It's been real pleasure working with José. He seems to pick on the vibe in the music and enhance it through very deliberate and fast process. We had some difficulties in the beginning with my payment but he was extremely patient and maintained his enthusiasm. I cannot recommend him enough!

  4. A: I'm mastering the new album of a famous Brazilian rock band.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I still don't know anyone on Soundbetter.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital, due to its practicality and countless possibilities.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will get the song ready for release, maximizing its potential and message.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Working with different artists every day.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Do you work with stem master? Yes!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: To think that mastering is just for the purpose of making the music as loud as possible.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What is the purpose of your song, your music message and your musical references?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Try to find someone who, through conversations, you realize understands your purpose and the message of your music. Art can be very subjective and personal, so it's important to leave this last step of audio production in the hands of someone who can meet your expectations.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My computer, audio interface, headphones, studio monitors and iLok.

  26. A: Modern, meticulous and detailed.

  28. A: Any creative and innovative artist that leaves me with a song stuck in my head, that makes me smile when I listen to the music through my studio monitors.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Rock and pop music.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I maximize the potential and message of each song, preparing it for release.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: I talk to the client to understand what the song's intent is. I analyze the message and feel of the song, research references within the same musical genre and then start working, focusing on balancing my technical analysis, client perspective and audience expectation.

  35. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  36. A: Pay attention not only to how the music is heard, but to how it feels.

  37. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  38. A: Dedication to getting the most out of each song and always doing the best I can in my work.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: It's an all-digital, high-end setup. I've been working in the same space and with the same tools for a long time, so I'm pretty familiar with all the resources I use in my productions.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Dave Grohl, Brian Setzer, Eddie Vedder.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I work with post-productions in the studio. The most frequent work is the remote mastering of singles, ep and full albums, preparing the songs for release on streaming platforms and physical media (cd and vinyl).
