Lena Leon is a New York based audio engineer and vocal producer. A graduate of Emerson College's prestigious audio program, and the competitive Live Mix program at WERS 88.9FM Boston, Lena knows what it takes to deliver a mix under high pressure, and under any circumstance. Also a student of Brian Reeves (Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Hollywood Records), Lena was taught to hold vocals to the highest standard, and to ensure perfect pitch, vocal takes and perfect timing every time. Recently, Lena has had the honor of vocal producing, arranging, and mixing for some of the top labels and artists in the music business with over 50 Million+ streams and counting.

Lena took my vocals from pretty good to well past my expectations. I sent her notes for how I wanted the mix to sound and she delivered the raw acoustic sound I was looking for while still doing some much needed pitch correction and editing. If you're looking for someone to mix your vocals she's a perfect candidate. She's a singer herself and has great pitch so I didn't really need to give much instruction. She was also incredibly patient and kept making revisions until I was very happy with it.

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! But you can do so much in the mixing process digitally these days!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It makes me so happy when people say "thank you for caring about the vocals, so many people don't!" It's always been super important to me, and I'm glad when my clients leave feeling like a rockstar!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your end goal with your vocal mix? Is there any artist or song you'd like your mix to sound like?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: We can only fix so much in post. Make sure the vocals sound as good as they possibly can before you hand them to a mixer! Any hum, or hiss or background noise is really tough to remove!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've definitely had a bumpy road in the business. I've been doing vocal mixing for 15 years, and it's tough for a female to prove their worth in a male dominated world, but I'm glad I didn't have it easy. Forced me to work my tail off to prove my worth! ;)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Clean and radio ready!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, EDM, Folk, Funk, R&B. I've really done it all!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocal mixing and production.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Too many people don't care about the vocal mix, and it's SUCH an important part of the process! The vocalist wants to feel like a star, and I think that's why people want to work with me! I can make the vocals sound record-label ready.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I discuss with the client what they're looking for, then spend tedious hours editing and making sure everything is perfect.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm an in-the-box mixer, which means it's a home studio setup, but I can get the quality as good as some of the top studios out there!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Everyone who makes music does (it takes courage) but I'm a particular fan of Max Martin and everything that he and his team have worked on!
