George Drabing Hicks on SoundBetter

George Drabing Hicks has built a career at the intersection of live performance and studio production. Equally adept in both settings, he integrates the immediacy of a concert with the precision of a recording, so every project resonates with clarity, depth, and emotion.

As a classically trained musician, George developed a deep appreciation for the transportive power of sound which led him to explore audio engineering. After graduating with a double major in music and business, he eventually moved to Los Angeles to immerse himself in the industry.

George’s broad experiences inform the decisions he makes every day. Six years as Head of Audio for The Theatre at Ace Hotel engineering touring acts and facilitating film premieres for major studios. Four years as a business owner developing a post production and recording facility in Culver City. Currently as a monitor engineer for grammy-nominated arranger Chris Walden and the Pacific Jazz Orchestra. Also as a contributing sound designer for the animated series Common Side Effects on Adult Swim and HBO Max.

With over 15 years of professional experience, and regardless of the job description, his work remains focused on enhancing the creative experience for both artist and audience.
