Writing songs is not just telling stories to me, it's about telling feelings. My name is Daniela and I am a singer/songwriter. I have been composing and writing music for 6 years now. I've written songs for myself and for my band "In June", but I have also done it for other musicians in need of original songs to sing or play.
I would love to get to know artists and musicians who would need my help, to design and mould the songs on their personalities and based on their strenghts and specialities. Also, telling their story with my words or create a melody that could complete their lyrics.
I have been working on a lot of projects, my main one is the band "In June", where I play guitar, sing and write original songs. Our latest single 'Years' is available on all platforms.
Moreover, I have been working on commission for a lot of companies that needed jingles. For example, I recently worked with 'Digital Enzima' for their podcast 'Molecole Digitali' airing both on spotify and youtube. I created and recorded their jingle.
I am a student at Saint Louis college of Music, where I study vocal skills, guitar, piano and composition.
Also, I teach singing and guitar playing to young artists in the making.
My specialization is vocal melodies, lyrics and chords progressions.
In October 2021, I released my first EP with the band "in June", distributed by the Orchard and available on all digital platforms. Also, I co-wrote an electro-pop song with a producer (XXXXL) called "Welcome Mr. President", which was also released in October 2021 with The Orchard.
Finally, I've recently composed a soundtrack for an independent movie called "La Tana" which has also been presented at the Biennale of Venice.

just for finding Dan and discovering her talent made the soundbetter portal already worth it. Dan is gifted with an extra ordinary voice, great song writing and she almost wrote the song in real time.
she also considered my recommendations of changes and adjustments and nailed down the recordings. she understood right away what i needed and delivered...
i could keep on writing but i don't want her to be discovered and singing on too many other projects (selfish artist mode on!!!) 😂 - check_circleVerified
Dan found a catchy vocal melody on my demo in just 24h!
Very clear communication
I would definitely recommend her - check_circleVerified
Dan was very helpful and help me achieve my vision.
Interview with Dan
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have recently co-wrote a song for an independent movie called "La Tana". I was happily involved in the process of writing the main theme of the movie, a song called "Nothing". I wrote both the lyrics and the melody for it, and of course I sang it. It's been a special experience as I've also had the chance to see the film in theaters. Listening to your own voice on the big screen is a big deal! My heart was super happy.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment, I'm working on a few songs for my solo project, both in Italian (my native language) and in English. I have recently completed a job involving some lounge songs: I had a lot of fun recording the voice for some covers.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I know Roger Shah, one of my clients who became a friend too. We are in touch. He is very active in what he does and he does it greatly. His sounds are awesome and his production sounds lit. Also, I'm friend with Alessia Labate, who is an impressive top-vocalist , singer, songwriter. She was the one to introduce me to this platform!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I'll have to go with digital because it's practical and accessible, as far as my own work station is concerned. If I had o go and record in a big studio, I'd love to work with analog components and learn more about them.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My Promise to my clients is to always listen to their needs and ideas. I'm client-centered and I swear to put myself aside for the duration of the job, trying to be empathic and attentive.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love to deliver the right songs, the right words or the right melody for a song. It makes you feel like you've created something valuable. And, I love it when clients are deeply satisfied. It makes me feel full. Also, you get to enter other people's heads and emotions. You get to see a moment in their life when they felt the need to write something, or just project something creative.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask for the opportunity to hear the song/piece of work I'm supposed to work on, or the idea behind it. That is because I want to be 100% honest and transparent with my possible clients. Also, if they give me information of some kind I make sure to check twice not to create any misunderstanding, which would cause both of us to waste time. Lastly, I ask about deadlines which are a very important feature of this kind of job.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Always lay down the project on the table, be as specific as possible, and be as detailed as possible. It is easier to work on a piece of work if the details are clear.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: - my shure microphone - my reverb guitar pedal - the focusrite - my Macbook - some high quality headphones
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have started singing at a very young age as both my parents are musicians. My mother is a lyrical singer, and her career has always inspired me to explore my musical side. But, my love for music has come naturally: I started writing songs as soon as I learnt to play guitar. Then I found out my voice was not that bad and found my favorite outlet in singing my heart out. I started playing and singing in bands, since high school. Then I started my own solo project, playing in local clubs my own songs and covers, acoustically with my guitar only. In 2018 my solo project turned into a band called "In June": we released three singles plus an EP in 2021. In the meantime, I started my composer career, writing jingles for podcasts, songs for movies and songs for other artists.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is very emotional, with some anger influenced by artists like Alanis Morissette and Hayley Williams. My guitar playing is focused on arpeggios and eleventh chords. It's also very folky, like Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: In my dreams, I would love to work with Paramore because they are my childhood and the reason why I started making music in the first place, and it would be surreal to share some production tips. I think our taste would be super compatible.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My one music production tip is: always sleep on whatever you're working on. You need to listen to it with a fresh and rested mind.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: The kind of music I work on for my personal project is mostly alternative-rock, elcetro-pop, indie-pop etc. As far as my work as a songwriter for other people is concerned, I work on any genre but mostly pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think the skill that I feel more comfortable and self-conscious about is singing, writing songs from scratch and coming up with ideas on instrumental pieces.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I definitely bring some well-dosed melancholy with my singing. I tend to focus on the pathos.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My work process starts with listening to the song/piece I'm working on a lot, so that I can really feel it mine and feel in control. Then, I start thinking about some melody ideas and humming them while listening to the composition. Finally, I look for a piece of writing that suits it, or I write something ad hoc. Then I have to sleep on it, and the next day I'm ready to judge my work and decide whether to go with it or start again!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: On my producer desk there are 3 essential components: a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4, an Audiotechnica microphone and a MacBook Air with Logic Pro.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am really inspired by guitarists and keyboard players. I also love to work with drummers. They make a great team for producing!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do is definitely writing lyrics, melodies and singing.
