Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I recently finished a song called "Survive" I was the singer-songwriter, vocal producer and co-producer of this track. This song is the story of my constant battle with insecurities and depression. It took a lot of courage to write this song and share it. "Survive" captures the story of my life and my thirst for succes and pursuing my dreams. The track is signed to "Magic Music" and will be released on the 8th of March.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I'm working on many different collaborations with producers from all around the world as a singer-songwriter and vocal producer. I'm also producing tracks for other artists in trap/hip hop genres.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Digital. I've been working " in the box" for the past three years. I've also experimented with analog plugins, but if you compare the costs and the accessibility of analog v.s. digital, I personally think digital wins. Because the results you get is very close to analog and its more affordable and accessible.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: My promise is providing very high quality recordings. The melody and lyrics are guaranteed to fit the vision of the producer.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I'm a storyteller, I love to use my "unique" voice to bring more life into poetry. I also love producing and combining my skills to offer the best I can.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Costumers often ask me about my work process. What I explain is that I send a first draf/demo and if they like that direction or have any feedback I continue to work on it. After that I tend to finish writing the demo and send it back, if we both agree then in some cases I re-record some parts or the whole song if needed to provide the best results.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: Next to being a vocalist and songwriter, I'm also a producers, this allows me to provide vocals that could exactly fit the producers vision.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: Wether they have any specific subject in mind that they want me to right about and also if they have any good vocal references that they really like or inspired them to create their track.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: My laptop, obviously. My audio interface, microfoon, midi keyboard and XLR cable.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I started writing songs 7 years ago. At first my songs were very simple but as I wrote more often I got better. I am still learning and evolving everyday. I started my Music Production studies 3 years ago, since then I've been working on a professional level. I definitely want to continue combing (vocal) production and writing and recording vocals.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My style is a combination of future bass, EDM and pop. My vocals can be described as emotional, airy and smooth, often with a melancholic edge.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Ekali, Droeloe and Troyboi. These are my biggest inspirations and the reasons why I am doing what I love, in the genre that I love. I have learned so much by listening and analysing their songs. Working with these producers with allow me to take my skills and ambitions to another level.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Try to always listen in context, soloing one instrument and working on it for hours might turn it into a sound that won't work with the rest of the layers. So find a balance between working on layers in solo mode and in context.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Future bass, EDM, pop and trap. Anything electronic and energetic but also melancholic.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My voice! also the ability to bring the right emotions to a track based on the lyrics that I've written.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I often get comments about the uniqueness of my voice and how I've been able to exactly capture the right sound and vibe for a song. I take the song to another level by writing a well-fitted top line and lyrics.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I send a first draft/demo to make sure I'm on the right track. After discussing this I finish writing and recording the whole track and send it back for feedback/revisions.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: At home I have a Antelope mic (including vintage modelling emulations) and the Yamaha HS5 speakers. Besides a home studio I have acces to a professional studio with nearly perfect acoustic. The speakers are Neumanns and Focals and I record with an Antelope mic which is very similar to the U87. I have tested some different mic's and have figured that this mic suits my voice very well.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I am very much in to EDM and specifically, future bass combined with pop. My main inspirations as a producer are Ekali, Droeloe, Illenium and San Holo. As a vocalist, Nevve, Riell, Elohim and Billie Eilish have inspired me a alot.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I write lyrics, mainly honest stories that I've been through in my life. That way I completely believe in what I'm delivering as a vocalist. I record the vocals and mix them as well. Clients seem to describe my voice as very vulnerable and emotional. Apart from that I am a music producer as well. This gives me the ability to work from a producer's perspective as well as a vocalist's.
