Producer, mix & mastering

Nicolaj Roos on SoundBetter

If you want oldschool synth sounds, I'm your man. Specializing in indie, synth, darkwave & alternative, I've been producing, mixing and mastering for more than 20 years.

Working primarily with analog synthesizers and esoteric drummachines, I guarantee your music will sound different and get that edge. Since I've also been working in the film industry for several years, my work style ethic also has a cinematic quality to it.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Nicolaj Roos

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Analog. It's imperfect. Like us.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: Arp 2600, Arp Quadra, Moog Source, LinnDrum, Oberheim DMX.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: I have a background in film, alternative/indie, and pop. So I am able to marry these different genres to a unique combination.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I'm using a Mac and Cubase for DAW. I have a studio full of analogue synths and drummachines. I love old effect units, and especially spring reverbs, which I track every chance I get.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: If we go way back, Young Marble Giants was probably the band that made one of the biggest impressions on me. The minimalism was awesome. In recent times, I think what Colleen does is absolutely breathtaking. Apart from that, I've been listening to a lot of synth minimalistic pop, like Deux, Oppenheimer Analysis, Das Ding, Linear Movement and so on.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I'm most often hired as a producer, and mix engineer.
