A versatile session drummer capable of playing nearly any genre. From his home studio Gethyn is able to quickly and effectively record in to pro tools and deliver the recording in any format required. Gethyn is very open to feedback and constructive criticism in order to deliver the perfect product for clients.

Gethyn Hatch is a drummer of 12 years with live and studio experience, living in downtown Ottawa, Canada.

Gethyn is the drummer of Ottawa band Sunday Riot Club and is currently completing the Music Industry Arts (MIA) program at Algonquin College in Ottawa (graduating December 2020). Through this program he’s enhancing his music skills and knowledge by learning audio production and the business of music.

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: The four song Ep for my band Sunday Riot Club

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Digital, because it's faster and more intuitive to use, less time wasting.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: That you're happy with the delivered product

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: That music is my job

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: Are you able to play this part that's in my head? Well no, however if you write it out or speak it and give me an idea of what you're thinking than most likely yes.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Be ready to have your ideas tampered with in order to be played on the drums properly and within the drummers ability.

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: A cajon, a mic, a stand, an out of the box recording setup and a modem.

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I started drumming when I was 6 and it's been amazing learning everything i can about this industry.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: Endurance, I will more commonly get better takes the longer I go recording in a day. In terms of artistic style my clients have said "he knows how to hit a drum"

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: Gregory Porter. I really want to get better at jazz and I love his writing techniques, so learning from him would be an amazing opportunity.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: I'm very client oriented, I aim to ensure that you're happy with the product I give back after we discuss it. If you're not happy with the drum part, I'm not happy with it.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I love the work ethic and life styles of drummers like Jay Weinberg and Mario Duplantier. Outside of metal I've always been inspired by
