Interview with Ben Jordison

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: My studio setup is rather simple, but it allows me work efficiently and focus on what is necessary for a mix or production. I do all of my mixing in the box with Waves, Slate Digital, IK Multimedia, and iZotope plugins. While monitoring on the PreSonus Eris E5's and KRK Rokit 5's. I am able to work seamlessly and have the flexibility within my setup to be able to integrate many pieces of gear in a pinch.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: I do my best to deliver any specific requests and always work timely and passionately towards serving the needs of a client in any extent.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: My style is somewhere between hip-hop and punk/emo rock. I like to refer to this embodiment as some variation of 'acoustic rap'. More specifically I love a clean guitar sound or catchy riff contrasting some swung boom-bap drums with 808's.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Don't look for problems or the "bad" in a track. Work with what you have to preserve the good in a mix.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Utilizing time efficiently to turnaround a product at high quality, and working closely with clients to have a clear understanding of what I am to be delivering for said project.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I thrive at enhancing the essential elements of a track while preserving the original energy and tonal feel of a reference mix. Being able to shape a tight and clean low end and add a crispy shimmer to the top vocals.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: Mixing and mastering tracks is what I specialize in but I also produce a variety of different types of instrumentals. Both of which have special offers and can be done in single or bundle deals. Also specialize in custom beats and other productions upon said request.

  15. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  16. A: I am constantly producing a surplus of beats and mixing tracks for clients and friends. Also working on my own solo project that is set to release in July.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I have been making music since 2015. I am currently finishing up my degree program at Full Sail University where I am working towards a Bachelor's degree in Audio Production.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Hip-hop, Emo rap, indie pop.
