Seriously one of the best engineers I’ve worked with.
Extremely patient and kind, can’t recommend him enough. The final result is insane. - check_circleVerified
Did a second track with Jack and he nailed it again. The process was smooth. He’s very switched on, understands and absorbs your notes/ideas and makes adjustments and revisions no trouble at all. Was just as good as I had expected (based off of his catalogue of work) 👌👌👌

I'm very happy with how it went (working) with Jack. He nailed the mix, fulfilling everything I had asked for...and also elevating the song in ways not expected, through his own mixing choices based on his own instincts/feel for the song (*which is something i had wanted him to do and discussed going in) Keen to work with him again. And no doubt he was great at communicating + organising. Super easy/smooth process!

Jack did a great job with my ep and I would be happy to work with him in the future. Quick response time but also took the time to really work out what I wanted from the mixes and masters, and got them sounding exactly how I wanted. Highly recommended. Thanks Jack!
Interview with Jack Prest
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to talk to the artist first and have a listen to any demos or rough mixes of the material. It helps for me to understand holistically where the artist is coming from and what they are wanting to achieve with the project as well as how it fits into their goals as an artist. Once we've discussed this and have clarity on the best way forward I'll decide with the artist what needs to be done moving through writing, production, mixing and mastering stages as necessary. I then get all the files from the artist and get to work! I'll communicate clearly with the artists at each stage making sure they are happy with the progression and adapting the process and making any changes as needed. Once completed I like to give the artist a few days to sit with the project before signing off and making sure everything sits well on repeated listens.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I run a hybrid digital analogue setup. Working mainly in Pro-Tools for mixing, Ableton for production and Wavelab for mastering. Digitally I have a full suite of UAD plugins along with other big name stuff like Plugin Alliances, Fab Filter, Sound Toys etc. I augment this with a Dangerous D-Box Summing mixer, Zahl EQ-1, Elysia Xpressor, a handful of UAD hardware comps, analog/tape delay, Moog Voyager, Orban Spring, and Pure2 and Apogee PSX-100 mastering grade convertors.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin is definitely a hero, his workflow his workflow and philosophy are an inspiration. Also his ability to bring his sound to something no matter the genre.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My bread and butter is finishing tracks for artists and producers, be it production, mix, final master or a combination of all three. I specialise in helping people fully realise their creative vision.
