I'm an artist, writer, and producer ready to create really special music with special creatives. Your vision is guide and your satisfaction is my goal; I can do everything from high energy fast paced pop songs and slower, soulful ballads, along with Hip-Hop and R&B. I also offer audio engineering. I'm kind of a one stop shop for everything!

Yo! I'm Olly and I'm an actor, musician, songwriter and producer based in LA; I also run my own independent record label called Lamintin Records.

As an artist, my music is a blend of elements of all genres, I love playing with the limits of each genre and blurring the lines between what they can be. So in the work I do with and for other artists I'm versatile; whether you want a song that's in a very similar style to an already established artist or you want something more unique and not done before, I'm your guy.

Songwriter - I can write a bomb song for you! Lyrics and Melody, or one or the other. Whether you want a song completely from scratch or you already have an idea or instrumental that you want me to build off, you're guaranteed to fall in love with my work.

Producer - If you already have lyrics and need a track to bring it to life, I can build one for you and mix it. I start with a tight an impactful rhythm section and then work my way up from there.

My influences include: Otis Redding, The Weeknd, Labrinth, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, Bruno Mars, Khalid, Sam Cooke & More

I've been featured in Vogue Italy and my music has been in various short and feature length films.

Feel free to send over a proposal and let's make some magic!

Just one of the coolest dudes I've ever gotten the chance to work with. He is super easy going but still one top of his stuff. He also just comes up with some bang on ideas that surprised me.

He is someone I will continue to collab with for hopefully years to come.

Interview with Olly Sholotan

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: As cliche as it sounds, the fact that I get to create art for a living make some one of the luckiest people in the world. I get to make people feel things as a livelihood. The movies and music that people experience during certain parts of their life can help shape how they look back at that period; whether it's helping them get through a tough time or helping them celebrate something amazing. In a weird way by creating that art I feel like I get to be part of those experiences with them.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: My career path has been pretty wild. I'm sort of a man of many hats, I'm an Actor, Musician, Singer, Producer, and Record Label Owner. At my core I love entertainment and I love art. So since I was a child I have always loved the feeling of being transported to another world or era or feeling by a piece of art, so as I grew up and found different mediums I would try them out and realized I was pretty good at it. The record label part sort of came as a necessity, I'm relatively impatient when it comes to my ambitions and I don't like red tape so the idea of waiting for a record label to give me a shot at living my dream seemed insane to me; and especially with the internet existing as it is today you can absolutely have a career without a major label pushing you forward. I made the call.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: Everything I do (from hip-hop to soul to RnB) always has a hint of a pop feel to it. I think this comes from the fact that I was raised on a lot of Motown and so I understand the importance of a tune that sticks. That means that no matter how soulful or how meaningful and deep the lyrics of a song are, the way they fit into the song as a whole should always feel good to listen to; that doesn't necessarily mean the music should always be happy per se, it should just just always feel like it belongs.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Don't be afraid to try things! One of my most influential mentors once said to me "At the end of the day this is just music, we aren't doing rocket science." I've taken that with me for most of my musical career, the way I discover things in my music is go ahead with every musical impulse I have and try it out, the undo button is literally a godsend because any time I "mess" anything up I just undo it. But first I make sure to try anything new that comes to mind.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: My strongest skill is melodies. As a kid I learned that I just had a natural talent for coming up with tunes that just "felt good." and once I learned how to attach words to that everything else sort of made sense. That really is the key though, the melody has to absolutely feel good in your body and your bones; that's when something sticks and makes it hard to forget.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Max Martin is one of my favorite songwriters. His ability to just create melodies that stick in your head the moment you hear them is incredible to me. The fact that he has stayed relevant through so many decades of musical trends is a testament to just how talented he is a musician. Like the dude has written for everyone from Brittany Spears to the Weekend, that wild. Labrinth is probably my all time favorite musician; he writes and produces ALL his own work but he also stays so experimental and soulful. As far as producers Daft Punk does some incredible blending of digital sounds with analogue and classic construction or music. And also Mike Dean, I think his synth work on Travis Scott's as well as Kanye West's music while still blending it with Hip-Hop is so tight. Also can't forget Benny Blanco, absolute god of pop.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: Most of what I do is writing; whether it's the melody of a song or the lyrics, writing is sort of the quickest turnaround that I have. I also think part of it is that my style of writing really does appeal to a lot of people on the consumer level because it is very meaningful yet still digestible.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: I thrive off very clear communication! You should sugarcoat anything or be vague or be nice. I want to make a great song for YOU so it's very important that you're clear from the get go with what you want. Also always have something you're going for, whether in feel or in style or in rhythm, it gives me a general direction to head in.
