Endorse eleniWorking with eleni was a true pleasure -- her unique gifts as a vocalist are matched by her professionalism and commitment to delivering the best performance possible. I found her after hearing from many other potential candidates, and she was by far the best choice! Her contributions to my song made it a million times better, and any producer/songwriter would be lucky to work with her.
Great voice and really professional.
Interview with eleni
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The fact that it doesn't feel like a job. It gives me purpose, gratification, a rush only music can give. I heard someone's view on what music is. They said, "Lyrics put into words what many people cannot. And this connects us and makes us all feel seen and heard." To be able to do this on any level is the greatest gift to me.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Moleskin notebook, Sharpie, AA batteries, tape recorder, pack of blank tapes.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Hayley Williams and Justin Timberlake. I have always felt a connection to these two artists. I feel Hayley's timeline from Paramore to her latest solo music has continued to match my musical interests and tastes. I highly admire her artistry. With Justin Timberlake, obviously he will teach me to dance, and to sing and harmonize on a track we write together would send me out of this world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be open to all ideas in the room. Whether it's just you alone or with collaborators. Don't hold yourself back from trying something you haven't before. And if someone has an alternate melody, arrangement idea or lyric, always hear it before you disagree. You will be surprised!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love pop music! And I love how pop is influenced by all other genres. Hence, I love working on all types of genres. Rock, Indie, Blues, Folk, Jingles.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I take direction very well. Whether you are in the room with me or in another country, I am fully confident in understanding the type of performance, idea, or sound a client is striving for.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My catalog, always. Trying to write as many songs as I possibly can!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet but I'm new here!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing since a child. As a teenager I wanted to be a performer just like Britney Spears. Then in my twenties, I fell in love with songwriting and producing. I'm just as happy and fulfilled behind the scenes creating for and with other artists.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Fun, bright, but also dark, moody.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Warm up, listen to music in the style of the project I'm working on for inspiration, always have pen and paper.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Private studio, Pro Tools, Audio Technica mic and headphones, Scarlett Focusrite interface, and my puppy Luna sitting on my producer chair.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Depends on the type of sound you want for the project and the type of process you prefer.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you do harmonies and background arrangements? Yes. Can you tune the vocals? Yes. Can you send a sample of singing my song so I can see if it's a good fit? Yes.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Maybe that a hit song is easy to make. Songwriting is a craft but it's also magic. Sometimes the magic is there and it happened in 30 minutes, and sometimes you need a few days or even months to get it just right.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What style, tone or energy are you looking for? Do you have any concepts or reference songs to pull from?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be as clear as possible of your vision and intentions for your project.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always try to bring a genuine performance or feeling. If I connect to the song, then I know others will.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Justin Timberlake, Linda Perry, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Hayley Williams, Banks
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to make sure I fully understand your needs and ideas. If I am someone you believe can make your project come to life, I will consider it my own and treat it with the utmost consideration and give you the best of my abilities.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am often hired to record vocals for a song someone has already written. I am also often hired to write the lyrics and melody as well.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I was a co-writer and co-producer on an EP titled "Deep" released in 2019 for the artist, Chris Gundy. It was an amazing process to connect with the artist and bring out his ideas while keeping each song cohesive in style/genre. I completed this project with my writing partner, Jackson Church, and together we recorded Chris' vocals. With only 2 days to record all the songs, it was important for us to give Chris a comfortable, creative, and inspiring atmosphere. Bringing out the performance from an artist while recording can be tricky, but myself and Jackson are always supportive, genuine and intuitive to the mood and we strive to keep the process fun and creatively satisfying! And we did just that. I would love to be apart of this type of project over and over again!
