Interview with Joe Murphy

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing music & mixing for over 15 years. From a teenager in my bedroom working with friends I went on to study at Paul McCartney's LIPA University for 3 years and have worked almost every day for 8 years since!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always trust your ears, no matter what you might be looking at or your preconceptions may be.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My main focus is trying to bring out what's most important in each song - what does the song make me feel? What elements are key in making me feel those things? And how can I make them shine? After that it's about making creative & technical decisions to make the song truly shine in any scenario.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Here at OBP we have 2 custom designed production / mix rooms with world class monitoring, select pieces of analogue hardware and a huge selection of software plugins to get the best out of every record.
