Lewis Macaskill on SoundBetter

With only three songs out at the time, I made my first collaborative performance debut, featuring in the 2019 National Oxjam charity events. Despite being a one man band, my anaesthetic tones and compelling vocal textures ensure I build as much head buzz as the next guy.

I deeply care about each project. Versatility & flexibility come naturally with a wide range playable instruments. Very easy to work with, sure to adapt fast, giving you the extra OOMPH!!! you need on that mix.

I have my personal studio with top of the line gear and will provide either dry/wet mix high quality recording of my performances. Perfect for you, to edit just the way you want it.

Interview with Lewis Macaskill

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Mostly personal projects for sync-licensing in video games, television series, advertising etc.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Either or. If it sounds good, it sounds good. What matters most is the final product,

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I will not sign off on a project until the client is satisfied.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: 1. If the song were a colour which would it be? 2. Describe the song in three words? 3. How much time do I have?

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: Thom Yorke - Purely due to his music's ability to lift shivers from your skin. In just three words, his famous quote "Nothing is precious" sums up my entire thinking process behind a project. I believe, as musicians, as artists, we overthink. We want every idea that pops into our mind to be written down, recorded in someway. I say pick one, let the others go, learn to work with what you choose at random. Leave the art to chance. You'll enjoy the journey of music tenfold, I promise you.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: The majority of my focus has always been on the Artist's vision. What do they want? How can I aid them in bringing their ideas to life? However, a lot of the time my clients aren't very sure about what they want. And of course this is okay, it's perfectly normal. Most of us don't know what we want until we see until it's physically in front of us. Strange isn't it? Now this is where I come in. Whether it be you're pressed for time, Losing inspiration, or if you just can't be bothered? Hire me to get that song finally finished!
