Fangaliel

Entertainer singer songwriter

Fangaliel on SoundBetter

Singer and entertainer with over 25 years of experience in the Rock genre. I can also sing Metal, blues & Jazz genres with allot of pleasure; All that's got "balls and emotions" in fact.

Comfortable from Baritone (G2) to Mezzo-Soprano (F5).
I sing compositions and/or covers,
I can compose a vocal melody & write lyrics in English based on an instrumental.
With over 25 years of experience with different rock bands ; studio recording, concerts, contests, festivals… I now cumulate almost 10 years of solo covers on the internet in a multitude of genres.
Particularly at ease with improvisation and in concert, being an entertainer, a few years back I gave myself the challenge to cover songs with my "home-studio" basics.
All genres possible including those where I had no experience at all : RnB, Electro, Opera, RAP, Jazz, Soul, Blues...
This way I could work on my precision and on giving the same "emotional message" alone through a video as I do on stage with a band or improvising with good musicians. And, of course, widden my repertory at the same time !
In all the musical genres covered since 2013, I discovered that Jazz and Blues, with the emotions being so raw in these genres, suited me pretty well too.
I’ve been often compared to Mrs. Janis Joplin, probably due to the hairdo :D and the “power voice” style.

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: In Belgium it's impossible to earn a regular revenu as an entertainer/singer. So my day job as CEO assistant eats allot of time and energy. Every week I record 1 to 3 or 4 covers and share them with as much people as possible. I have a few personal compositions done and am regularly working on new ones.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: You'll have a Musical Good time !

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Singing and especially entertaining is so wonderful. To feel a public light up, join you in your "bubble", forget their worries for a while and just Enjoy good music, it's awesome !

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: What do you Feel when you listen to your instrumental ? what's the "inside movie" that pops on your eye lid when you listen and close your eyes ?

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: All the concerts I've done I'm proud I did them :) the big celebrations like the music festival in Nivelles or the VK Esperenza contest as much as the little concert done for 10 people in a small café lost in the Brussels' skirts.

  11. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  12. A: well both : I hate smartphones (have a 3310 Nokia new gen) and all small gadgets with big prices and bad waves like 4 or 5G, wifi,... I prefer my health than following trends. but I love and can really well use my computer (not a laptop a real PC), I learn hyper quickly the use of new software . I have a good usage of internet too, researching info is a fun occupation for me. my computer is a Great and very complete and multitasking "Tool". So yep both : analog when it comes to useless tech. BS and totaly digital when my computer is concerned.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That it's Easy to do. Entertaining a public while remembering lyrics, notes, stage choreographs, etc. is NOT an easy thing to do. I love doing it but it doesn't make it easy.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: My genres of predilection are : rock, hard rock, metal, soul, blues, jazz, oldies. I'm not inspired by : Country, EDM and marketing-music (Muzak) I'm not really good with : Pop, RnB, Rap

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: Opinel knife, water-bottle (the ones in metal), hiking shoes, backpack, first aid kit box.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: In Belgium, stage artists aren't recognized, no status, nothing, so it's impossible to win any revenue for what I do best, sing. I started really "singing" at 20, I'm 41 years old today, with a composition rock band, LazyLemon. Had a few little side bands & solo gigs during the 15 years of Lazylemon, then did a particular concept with Cover Me Mad (rock cover band) a few years. Nowdays I'm the lead singer for Wasn't Me (rock cover band too) Since a few years I started covering as much genres as possible in solo with my homestudio.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: Janis Joplin reincarnation LOL !

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Madonna : soooooooo many questions for her ! What a Lady & what a Career ! OTherwise, All 70-80-90ies famous artists are worth the while especially to Learn from them and work with them.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: If you're able to Learn in autodidacte, you can DYI sound and video yourself without paying a dime.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Rock Hard rock Blues soul Jazz (classic, oldies style)

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Entertainment on stage in concert. Emotion (see above)

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: real raw emotion, may it use power and strength (power voice like J. Joplin) or caresses and sultry whispers. That's why I'm good with Rock, soul, blues & Jazz. They all come from a place of raw deep emotion.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: for a song creation, first I NEED to hear the music, the instrumental to feel a good theme & vocal melody. I'll improvise and wannagain on it a few times to find the good vocal melody for the different parts of the song and will record these rushes to not forget the "good ideas". if the musician(s) know exactly what they want it makes it so much easier as they have a precise theme already set. Once I understand where to place the different parts (chorus,...) I start writing lyrics.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: I have a homestudio with a good Audix OM7 mic and a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 audio interface. Audacity + a few other little programs to manage BPM for example. I use Vegas Pro video maker for the videos. Marshall cables (XLR, Jacks,...)

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: As an entertainer ; Janis Joplin, AC/DC, Gwen Stefani, Jimi H., M. Manson,... These artists that Burn a stage down literally and make the public have the best time of their lives ! As a singer ; I'm a good singer in rock, blues, jazz, metal & soul genres, My favorite voice in the world is Maria La Callas, but realistically, voices like Etta James, System of a down or Queen inspire me greatly.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
