My name is Luís Moreira, I'm a session drummer from Portugal. I believe that talent goes through daily hard work as working every day develops my ability at all levels, and I try to be open to different styles that enhance new skills and originality. I count more than 300 concerts given and diverse studio albums with different bands.
I have experience in composing and I enjoy working under pressure and accepting all the challenges I believe I have potential for. I´m specialize in Metal but I have also worked with Pop and Hip Hop.
I do accept to work in pre conceived ideas with programmed drum tracks that will serve me as guidance so I can improve it with arrangments, or I can do the full composition.
I usually do a pre-production of the themes in question and send it to the client for analysis, and confirmed if everything has been approved. If so, I send the drum tracks separately in wav or mp3 (with or without editing).
The price is negotiable depending on the number of themes you may present.

Endorse Luís MoreiraInterview with Luís Moreira
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: That he/she be ambituous and perfectionist. I like to work with serious people that share the same passion I have for music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog, no question. I know we are living in a digital era and I've worked lots of times that way, but people are used to listening everything way to polished and "on track". I prefer to lose that a bit and gain a little more feeling. For example, that as realistic as programed kit might be, it will never have the same feeling that an acustic kit with a human has. It's very important to feel music as a musician, as well as a listener. We transmit emotions playing, emotions that in my opinion, are really hard or even impossible to get through programed drums.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I garante effort and dedication, as well as the best possible quality.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Besides doing what I love, that is playing drums, the fact I can manage my work schedule, meet a lot of talented musicians and having the opportunity to work with them.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I might have some hardware limitations, but I always do my best with what I've got.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always try to grasp what the client is trying to achieve. Like I said before, I like to work in music and making sure the client is happy.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a session musician in 2018, when I decided I was going to live from music. I had just quit a secretary job that I had for two years and my biggest passion was always playing drums. I've been playing with bands since 2011 and have a vast colection of gigs and albums in my carrer.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I don't have a particular artist that I can choose, I think that all those that try to create music, whatever genre it might be, can be considered artists. And i'm weeling to work with everyone that has that will and ambition.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All the genres within metal.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Perfectionist and meticulous.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Feeling, dinamic and identity.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Normaly, after reaching a deal with the client, I like listenning to the songs before recording. I like to understand the motive of the riffs, to be able to achive the best drum line possible, and above all, the one the song needs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home made studio, where usualy I reharse and give classes, equiped for my drum recordings. I have an interface, mics, speakers (you can see the detailed hardware in the description).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Dave Lombardo, Chris Adler, Mario Duplantier, Jeff Porcaro, Mike Terrana, Gene Hoglan, Thomas Lang...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Nowadays I do session work, live or studio with different bands.
