Sonny Costa on SoundBetter

Hey, I'm Sonny. My speciality is electronic, EDM, pop, indie pop, and r&b. I've written and worked with artists on Revealed Recordings, Warner Music Phillipines, Turn It Up Muzik, & more. My top notch writing, production, and/or mixing skills will get you the sound you desire! Your sound is everything. Work with me and I promise you'll get it!

Artists! When we work: send me your ideas, melodies, drafts, inspirations, and how you want it all to feel. As for my time in radio, I've listened to over 10,000+ songs spanning many genres for over a decade. This means I've also analyzed many of those with the mindset of a producer. I know the roads to get you to your hit. I'll produce/write you a full radio ready song with industry standard plugins, while working in Reaper. If I'm mixing, I'll use some ANALOG gear.

I also may provide real Saxophones and Guitars, and some of the most realistic sounding drums and pianos. As a vocalist myself, I also tune and edit vox!

You want some of the most creative sounds you've heard in any of those genres? I got you. I'm a skilled sound designer. If you want to stand out from the rest, I am at your service. You will also have all stems and instrumental parts.

And, hey, we will keep working on the song until you are proud of what we made!
Now lets get you that hit.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Sonny Costa

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: The sound they, and the people who make the playlists for radio, want.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Indie Electronic, Pop, Electro Pop, Chill, Progressive House, Tropical House, Big Room House

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Producing, for sure. I've been doing it the longest professionally, almost a decade since I started, though I've studied the industry way longer.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: YOU are the first person I think of in a song. What is it you want to feel? If it is my own song, then I bring a more electronic dance music feel mixed with indie. I'll make sure the song is meaningful in all elements.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I use a Rode NT1 for vocals, Reaper to Produce and mix, Nektar GX61 keyboard, Focusrite interface. If you have these things, I garuntee you too can do what I do at a certain level. Nothing but motivation from me. Follow your dreams.

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: Much new music for my own solo career, Sonny Costa, though I want to be working on YOUR song!

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: Clesto! He is a great producer who I've worked with multiple times.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: Playing with all my sound toys.

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: That it's hard. It's like telling a doctor what he does is hard. It's not, I just practiced for many years.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Talk with me! I want to get to know you

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Laptop, Keyboard, Mic, Interface, a second monitor, because you ONLY need the bare essentials to make music! It's all about your creativity.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Indie Electronic. The Indie comes from the lyrics, vocals, and vibe, and the electronic comes from the House side.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Redfoo from LMFAO, because I love his Party Rock brand so much! It's all fun.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Use templates to start your projects! It's much easier.

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: I usually start with the production, then add the lyrics, then record and vocal comp, but its everchanging. I am very flexible.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: Calvin Harris is my favorite artist because I can rely on his music to chart, but also have the flare of his own style that is ever evolving but never straying to far from who he is. He makes what he wants and I respect that. And he is the perfect human, I swear.
