Afaro on SoundBetter

I specialize in music production, mixing and mastering. I'll take your vision of your ideas and make them into reality. Let's go. I'm ready.

I work really well with reference tracks. If you have a specific direction you are going for, I can definitely help you reach your goals. If I work with a singer songwriter, I will let them fully express themselves creatively and I will capture what they created and emulsify the beautiful piece of project.

I've been blessed with to have a project with a French label, which is Kitsune Musique and also have been working with a lot of local singer songwriters and musicians, not to mention getting to perform for a festival in Malaysia in 2019 which is called Good Vibes Festival.

Press the green button and tell me about your project. Let's have fun and get to work.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Afaro is very accommodating towards the artist's needs. I love the fact that he responds very fast whenever I message him regarding updates or questions. Even in the recording day for vocals, he makes sure that the artist that he is working with is very well-taken care of. He has amazing skills in sound engineering and he can also help you find harmonies for your song. Hiring him is the best decision I've made in SoundBetter! Looking forward to working with him again in the future!

The recent song I have worked on with Afaro was THE song that I've always wanted to make! I'm so happy that he could see my vision, and be patient with me throughout the journey. Will definitely work with him on more songs in the future. Good stuff brother, keep it up!

Afaro is such a knowledgeable producer/engineer! He knows his stuff musically AND technically. When working with him, you will not only leave with a dope track, but also a broader knowledge on how to enhance your production skills creatively and technically. He has single handedly restored my faith in working with producers/engineers via online -- he's professional, transparent, and overall a great guy to work with.

I wasn’t confident when I wanted to release me first song, but Afaro heard me sing it live and convinced me that the song would make it somewhere and it did! It’s now at more than 230 thousand streams on Spotify, which goes to show that he has a good ear. He’s been my go to producer ever since. 10/10 would recommend

Afaro is a versatile producer that ventures into a diverse range of genres which is a reflection of his music palette. He also has a good ear for melodies and is a good songwriting partner. Collaborated on a project which got released on Kitsune Musique. He allows the artist to comfortably express their ideas and adds his personal touch to create a solid end product

Interview with Afaro

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recently did an OST for a local TV show in Malaysia (where I live) because that has been one of goals to do that. I was the producer, arranger and mixing & mastering engineer for that project.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently working on MeMe Myatt's song.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I would recommend MeMe Myatt because she is a very responsive and efficient client. Not to mention talented too!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital because everything is in the box. It makes my work more efficient and accessible.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise QUALITY and EMOTIONS to my clients. EMOTIONS in a song is an understated value that people dont realise in a song. I will also show you updates of each progress of the projects.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Just the beauty of making music, be it producing, mixing & mastering. I love all aspects about my job. It's not even a job for me. I just love music and I want to provide my love and skills of music to the community.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The timeline. I will answer with asking them back what do you need in details for your project and I will the timeline of my work process logically as to how long I will accomplish them.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Besides producing, I DJ on the side too so a lot of people think DJ-ing and producing is the same thing.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I will ask them what their vision and direction of the project and I will ask how much their budget is for me to fulfil those needs.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Give me as much details as possible and I will deliver to you what you asked for.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Laptop, MIDI keyboard, microphone, interface and headphones.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: My career path is to be a well known music producer for the rest of my life. If I could do this for the rest of my life, I would.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would say my style is mostly towards rnb and funk. If there was 1 artist that has a similar vibe to mine, I would say its a mixture of Honne + Disclosure.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Disclosure as I've been looking up to them and they have inspired me a lot towards my production

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always use reference tracks. It'll help you a long way and speed up the process. But KNOW HOW to use reference tracks. Get the vibe, not the elements of the track.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on RNB, pop and funk.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is composing. It is my strongest and my favourite skill in music production.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring quality and emotion to a song. It goes hand in hand. No matter how good of a quality you bring to a song, the most important element of the song is the emotion that you bring to it. Its not just about how it sounds, but about how it FEELS.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I usually start off with chords and melodies first. I rarely start the production with drums. It will be easier if the client provides me with a reference track. I work really well with reference tracks. I would also love it if the client shares with me their vision and direction of the song. That will emotionally drive me and decode their feelings into producing their songs.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: It is a simple studio setup that includes a Beyerdynamic condensor mic and headphones, 61 key MIDI keyboard, 2015 Macbook Pro 16gb ram laptop, SSL2+ audio interface. That's all I need

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Ian Kirkpatrick - the producer for Don't Start Now and Pretty Please by Dua Lipa, among the top songs I love about his productions. Disclosure Calvin Harris

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Production, composition, arrangement, mixing & mastering. When I receive a project, I usually handle the project from start to finish including mixing & mastering.
