Interview with Sajan Ks
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Early risers - Indo General. I worked as the recording engineer for the band. It was a live multi track recording session and pretty happy about the output. It was very challenging to do that in a small room with full of band.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On a single called wanderer from the band Rotten Socials
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: None.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: ADD - Content should be perfect for a good mix. Plugins can do a decent job these days. Rather than spending too much in analog gears. Not telling that it's bad, it's just expensive.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Trust me for what I'm capable of.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To be in the world of music and listening to what everyone can't hear.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People still thinks that I'm a DJ, even my mom.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: A well recorded stems of the track and a rough mix if there's any.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have trust in your content and let me make it more sweet for you.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've finished a degree in music production and audio engineering from SAE Chennai.Worked in a few studios and as a FOH engineer for few bands as well. Currently settled in Bangalore and working as a Freelance Record & Mixing engineer. I've been part of the industry since past 5-6 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Old school.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Anyone, every artist has there own flavour and style for their music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Record it as there's no mixing, Mix it as there's no mastering.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Punk rock, Indie rock, Folk music, Pop etc
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Recording and Mixing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A perfect sound what client want.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listening to the song and add the missing contents, make it sound better with my perspective.

A: MacBook Pro 13inch 2016, Steinberg UR22 MK ll Sound card, Presonus Eris 4.5 Studio Monitors, Sennheiser HD280 Pro Headphones,Yamaha Electric Piano.

A: To think from different perspectives.
