Interview with Cadence Soundlabs
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Digital is great because you can recall anything at any point in time.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Gain staging has been an invaluable process and is utilized on every mix I do. I feel mixes turn out much cleaner sounding if gain staging is utilized.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clean, articulate sounds.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically will bring my files into Izotope and clean up the files a bit. I use the batch processor to take of things that I would normally use on everything anyways. Then, I'll start mixing in Pro Tools. Sometimes, I might find something needs a bit more work with Rx.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use a Macbook Pro with Pro Tools and Izotope Rx with Focusrite interfaces.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really like the Chris Lord-Alge and some of the ideas and principles that he bases his mixes on.
