Interview with Fredber Hernández
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Gran Celaje First album "Algunos Necesitan Fuego" Composer, production, post-production, mixing and mastering.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Music Production Full time
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Either of both works today, the public is not going to ask what equipment was used or the process, people are only interested in something that they like and that it sounds good
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Professional Sound
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: the infinite variety of possibilities to deliver something to the audience
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Music producers are like a guru, at least when we work from scratch on the project, a guru that works as part of the public that has the words to give the feedback that the artist wants to improve, but we need something to work with, a base solid, a concept or an idea to be able to guide the artist
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: what do u want? who artist do u like? who artist do u want to sound like? what do u want to tell with the song? is for someone? what do u want to do with your life? (this is really important)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Think really well about what you want, a music producer it's a helper on the processes to make music but we cant read minds of what the customer wants AND keep in mind that there is a lot of possibilities for an arrangement of a song sooo the best way to find the best option is trying, moving, add and remove thing until its done.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Decent laptop, interface, mic, m50x and my guitarbass, anything else is juts irrelevant if im in a desert island jaajja
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Studding since 2014, working since 2019
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like to start from the cliché and then do the twist, so, different mainstream, ambiance sound, pulish sound, warm sound, dark and alt pop, ambiance metal?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: With Conor Mason from Nothing But Thieves, i think that is one of the best singers and composers actually Sam Carter From Architects, amazing writing and execution The Rev, from my point of view, one of the best metal drummers and composers
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listening to a LOT of music, from different parts of the world, understanding your target audience and the values they represent, this helps to have an objective vision of art and the artist
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Urban Music, Rock, Alternative Beats, Bass Music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: abstract analysis, layering, sound selection, mixing
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Thinking outside the box, giving the artist a different point of view of the interpretation of his project or work to exponentiate the positive values and reduce what does not help to improve the work
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Create structure, create rhythm, create layers, unite everything with the magic sauce of criteria
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a setup oriented to several disciplines, since I am currently studying 3D Art and VFX, mainly for musical work. M-Audio Bx6a;AudioBox;Ronald PCR-300, M50x
