Versatile professional singer and songwriter, based out of NY and NC. Mentioned in Billboard, MTV, and Lyrical Lemonade! Bedroom pop, hyper pop, EDM, house, etc.!
Hi guys!
My name is Natalie and I've been singing and writing songs for years. I specialize in pop, urban, country, and EDM genres of music.
Services I offer include:
Toplining: Send your instrumental track and I will send back an overarching melody with lyrics. Once we are happy with the product, I will create a high quality demo. Prices are negotiable based on the intensity and duration of the project, but I guarantee my full attention and effort to make the song as dope as possible.
Singing/Vocal Demo: I ask that you provide a melody (in the form of an mp3, voice memo, etc.) and the lyrics that you'd like for me to sing. I can add additional adlibs/harmonies to be used upon request.
Lyrics OR melodies: I'd be happy to write lyrics or craft melodies alongside your instrumental track. I can also work with you to revisit and refine older projects you may have as well, in order to get them to a place wherein they are ready to be recorded either by me or someone else!
Shoot me a message and we can see if I'm a good fit for your project! I'd then ask for all relevant materials. I can send a rough mp3 'concept' for approval, and then I will send either the ProTools session of final cuts, or individual wav files.
I look forward to hearing about you and your project! :)
Send me a note through the contact button above.

Interview with Natalie Carr
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been at this for years. I've collaborated with grammy-nominated engineers, producers, etc., and have been in sessions with some pretty incredible folks. I've pushed myself as an artist and will continue to do that, but ideally, I want to transition into writing for other artists full-time.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Writing, for sure! Lyrics are my strong suit.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by practically anyone and everyone who does music and takes it seriously. It takes a LOT of guts to use a service like this, invest your money and energy and time, and render great results. Music is such a vulnerable and personal form of art (in any of its forms) and the ability to collaborate with people via the internet is amazing.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I wrote a song for a big R&B presence (fingers crossed!) and it is a powerful, emotional, big record. It's different than what I usually do, and I was proud of myself during all levels of revision on such a high-stake exchange.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a bunch of records that vary in genre and in style. I'm always working to perfect my craft.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: The AVC (Carlo and Fahoud) are incredible producers.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both are important and have their respective places both in history, and in the present landscape of music and where it's headed.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will give my 100%.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Meeting people, fostering relationships, the sweet spot of knowing like, 'yeah, we nailed this song.' That excitement is a high that I can't find elsewhere in my life.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you do revisions? And, the answer is always yes (usually up to three rounds but I understand quality can sometimes require more)! Let's get this to a point that you like. I want us both to be proud.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It's more than a hobby!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you think I'm a good fit? Do you want something deeper and more sultry, something flirty and hot, something sad and somber? If you could have a famous female vocalist on this track, who would it be? *That helps me tailor my style of sining.*
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is key!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My eyeball! My midi, my weighted Yamaha, my guitar, mic rig/speaker setup. That's probably it!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Laid back, beer-guzzling tomboy that dresses to the nines on occasions.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to collaborate with Louis The Child or Mura Masa one day. I've never heard a bad, or even mediocre song, from either team.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: There is NOTHING wrong with simple, stripped-down production. I see a lot of folks 'over produce,' oftentimes to compensate/cover up mistakes. A catchy and compelling topline doesn't need a ton of extra production. If you can pull it off, do it. But never be afraid to keep it simple and straightforward.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: R&B, Pop, EDM/Future Bass, Country
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think I have a really unique voice and a die-hard work ethic!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It varies from client to client. I'm one of the few that work with lyrics before melodies, but sometimes, I can send raw melodic tracks and then circle back to lyrics once we've established how we like the tune/cadence/flow.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use a Kaotica eyeball (kind of like a 'mobile' sound booth) and a good 'home studio' mic. I mix my vocals lightly, but for the most part, I'll send dry vox without tune. I'll make sure there are no clips, muffles, etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I typically record toplines, write lyrics, and record melodies for clients! I play instruments and dabble in production work, but I primarily consider myself to be a singer and writer.
