Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been in the industry for over eight years now, and when I first launched was signed to MTV/Viacom and recognized by Captiol Records. I remain independent as contracts have never quite worked out, but I have enjoyed it, along with using my music to feed my mission which is to help child abuse survivors. I have used my music to uplift and bring healing on tours while raising awareness to help others, and that has been the most rewarding part of this journey.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is different and whatever I feel like saying at the time. Whatever I hear in my mind is what translates to the program and is created, and whether that is pop or a gospel tone, it always sounds like Ashley's vibe.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would LOVE to work with Tori Kelly one day. Our vibes are very similar and I greatly admire her self-taught talent, as I started off self-taught as well, and currently a self-taught guitarist. I love to learn from the best, and I believe she is that right now.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Let your soul breathe and the music lead. Don't strive to perform for this industry, create something that's worth truly performing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually stick to the pop, edm, and gospel realm, yet have sung features on several rap and r&b songs in which I loved!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is songwriting and vocals.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have been told I bring a different melody to songs that push boundaries. My music is known to be different, yet commercially appealing which is what I strive for in this industry. My lyrics are far from basic and surface level, as I believe in telling a story through writing.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to set a video meeting with the client before booking to make sure the vibe is right! I want to make sure we are both excited to create together and there is zero drama or issues. I keep it 100 professional and expect the same in return as I strive to create the vision you want me to bring to life. No egos please. I believe in community and that we are all in this together and there's enough room for everyone, I want to only work with those who are on the same wavelength. Once we both approve this is a go, then it's time to work! You'll either send me your already produced track in which you'd like me to complete a feature on or we will talk building and arranging for a completely fresh song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have small but mighty at home set-up as well as access to a recording studio in the city. I have an Apogee HypeMic set up with a compressor, along with Tascam headphones, and complete soundproof closet which serves as my studio.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by Leona Lewis, Tori Kelly, JoJo, and Demi Lovato.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I write lyrics to already made tracks, or help fully arrange, write, and sing on tracks built together.
