Session Guitarist

Felipe Villar on SoundBetter

Jazz guitarist with his own studio. I love also Soul music, Blues, Rhythm and Blues and everything in between. I play electric, acoustic and nylon guitar. I would be happy to listen to your music and see how I could help.

I'm a profesional studio and live musician. I started playing guitar and studying clasical music at the conservatory at 10. But my real interest were always black music; I started with the Blues, then Soul, Funk, and finally I started studying Jazz. I get my degree in Jazz in Porto (Portugal) and actually I teach Jazz at the conservatory. I've been playing gigs and recording with different local jazz bands for years and I published two records with my own trío, I also toured Spain with my trío and other groups.

I have my own studio and there I recorded my albums and some other people's records. Last year I worked hard on my studio just to have a beautiful sound in the room to record live. I work with Logic Pro X but I'm not the most technological guy, what I like is to play music, but it happens that I have a little studio. For the same reason I'm not your man if you want a supper processed guitars with tons of distortion and effects.

My main guitar is a Yamaha SA2000S but I have a beautiful Van Loo handmade archtop guitar, a Telecaster, a Washburn acoustic and Moreno y Castro classical. My main amp is a custom made similar to a Deluxe Reverb but sounding better, I have also an old Fender 75. I usually record electrics with Beyerdynamic M88 but I also have great JzMics, Senheiser MD-421, Shure 57, Rode NT5...

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.
