Interview with Nick Ortega (PRXZM)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Cut your low frequencies out of EVERYTHING that isn't a sub or bass tone. Especially when you're making heavier electronic music like trap and dubstep. Your low end is a key element in EDM and by having clashing frequencies in the lower registers, you take away the punch and power that really drives electronic tracks.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: When I do production, I love the wide variety of clients that I get to work with! They always come to me with such interesting projects that stretch my creativity. On the performance side, I love getting to travel and tour with my own music and play it for crowds. It's one of the most rewarding feelings I could imagine.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Porter Robinson is the main reason I got into electronic music in the first place and it would be a dream come true to work with him!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've had my hands on projects spanning multiple genres, but my specialty lies within the realm of electronic music ("EDM" as a blanket term, but more specifically, trap, future bass, dubstep, and synthwave)
