I'm a Northern, 2 times Grammy and Music Producer Guild Award winning Music Producer/Mixer/Engineer based in North London. Recent clients include Kylie, Sophie Jamieson and Lady Blackbird. Message me for rates for remote mixing!;)
If you think I could bring something to your project, please get in touch. Mixing and mastering and of course recording are where it's at for me.
I've been working in music for the past 28 years, starting at Abbey Road Studios working on many types of project most notably Beatles related, for which I won a Grammy in 2009. During that time I also cemented relationships with artists such as Spiritualized, The Manic Street Preachers and various producers with whom I still work with today. Recently mixed Kylie Minogues' Disco and Tension albums and recently won a Grammy for my work on her worldwide hit Padam Padam in 2024. Currently working on various projects in varied guises, producing, mixing and mastering.
I work out of my own studio in North London, hybrid Pro Tools based with lots of nice analogue toys to play with.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Endorse Guy Massey- check_circleVerified
Guy did everything we asked of him which is great.

Guy is super talented: a consummate mixer who brings both technical precision and a creative ear to his work. Technically speaking, his skills are excellent: carving out every offensive frequency, building a tight low end, and honing a clear mid-range. Creatively, he's great at listening for vibe and bringing the soul of the song to the foreground. Beyond that, Guy has a very client-oriented approach, which makes him a joy to work with. I hope to work with him in the future. Five stars.
One of the best engineers around. Bags of experience plus a great energy in the studio and a joy to work with.
If you're looking for a producer or mixer that isn't afraid to really push the direction of your tracks, look no further.I Love Guy musically and personally. He’s a pleasure to work with at every level and is my favourite and number 1 mix engineer to go to !
Working with Guy is always a pleasure. We've worked together on many recording projects but as a mixer he always excels. He has a great ear for sound ( two ears in fact !) and is always passionate and sympathetic to the music and the musicians. He’s making it as a great producer and I’ve worked with him as engineer and mixer on projects as diverse as The Coral, Dr John, Palma Violets. He's always on top of latest developments in studio gear and only uses the best. His work is first class and always of a high standard and the best guy I know in the studio !
All things producing, engineering, mixing, aren't a job for Guy, they are a passion and way of life. With his long, high-end, sonic experience, both analogue and digital, and his always on the look out to test some new piece of equipment,I can't think of anyone to more highly recommend.I've recorded 2 albums with Guy engineering and mixing, and they certainly wouldn't have been the same without him, sonically, creatively, and his great presence.
Guy was very easy to work with and most importantly incredibly talented at mixing our record. He was very intuitive and new what everyone song needed right away. A tweak here or there and presto. Guy knows music.
Guy's an incredible person to work with and his CV obviously speaks for itself. Also just one of the nicest people. Highly recommend working with him.
Guy mixed 1999 some of my songs i came back to Italy and we realized we were 15 years in the future.....
I firmly believe he is something that goes beyond mixing enginner he is a real artist of the sound.Guy changed my whole perspective on sound. His tasteful mixes and visionary sonic ideas make him another member of the band. An integral part of the sound. And beyond that, he’s an incredible human. Couldn’t recommend him more.
Guy is the whole package - trained in the best possible way at Abbey Road & perhaps the best old school engineer working today but also a prodigiously talented programmer, sound designer & mixer across a wide range of genres. He has worked at the very highest level in recording, production, mixing, film work and live mixing. He engineered for me on hit records for the Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild & a bunch of others & his brilliant, creative engineering combined with his perfect vibe elevated those sessions immeasurably. Highly recommended!!
Interview with Guy Massey
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: "do you like distortion"?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: "do you like distortion"?
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: both
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think that is possibly that I'm an analogue old school veteran, which I never see myself as... I love new technology and try my hardest to break and abuse it as much as the older stuff...
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: U67/1176/1073/COMPUTER WITH PRO TOOLS and an I/O/a guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My first job was at Abbey Road Studios where I went from "tea boy" to "tape op" to assistant engineer to engineer.. I started that 28 years ago and have been freelance for 18 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: In recording mode: classic "old school" engineering style with a modern twist. In mixing mode: I don't have a 'style'.. I just want to present my clients songs in the best and most interesting way. In producer mode: I prefer the artist to have clear ideas of what the arrangement should be and I facilitate that and bring interesting sonic ideas and methods to the table.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on a wide breadth of music from Electronic to Folk to Rock to Pop, I guess mainly I mix electric or acoustic guitar oriented stuff but enjoy working on Electronica and Pop equally.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It wholly depends on the job in hand, so in reality there is no typical day or process....
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: So many to list here but production/engineering wise my inspirations would include Flood/Moulder/Al Schmitt/Bones Howe/Blake Mills/Shawn Everett/Tchad Blake/Dave Eringa/Rich Costey/Spike...
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is based around a Pro Tools HD system which is interfaced with some great analogue gear. It is mainly my mix home but I overdub vocals, guitars and programme from here too.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I routinely wear different hats ranging form developmental work with new artists where I produce, engineer and mix their projects, remote mixing for established and new clients, attended mixing sessions, 5.1 Surround Mixing. I'm often employed as a recording engineer for other established producers which is something I still immensely enjoy.
