A: My style is Organic and driven by the music and sound an Artist is going for. I use my ears to interpret a song and use intuition to drive my ideas and workflow throughout a Recording or Mixing Session.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Blink 182 or Eminem because they were some of my biggest Music Inspirations growing up.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The Mix starts in the Recording Process.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I typically work on Hip Hop and Pop however I do a lot of work with Country and Christian Rock artists, with experience in many other genres such as Indie, Rock, Heavy Metal and Tejano.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing is my strongest skill.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my ear, my taste and my experience to each project I work on. Mixing is not always about creating the perfect product, its about translating the Energy and Emotion from the artist to the listener.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Each mix starts out as a blank canvas. First, I only work with Levels and Panning to create and Balanced, Natural-sounding song. Once my foundation of Balance is found I will then start working with the overall sound of the Mix. I add Analog Emulation Software as well as minimal EQ, Compression and Limiting to start adding Separation and Depth. When I'm happy with the overall Feel and Texture of the song I will then start working on individual tracks from the Beat or Vocals to highlight each piece of the song. I always look at opportunities to add Effects such as Delay & Reverbto add Dimension. I take breaks and alternate monitors to gain perspective on how the Mix is translating. I then put my final touches on the Mix and send to the Client upon completion.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a pair of Yamaha HS8's with a UAD Arrow Audio Interface. I use a 2018 MacBook Pro to run my DAW Pro Tools as well as my wide variety of Industry Standard Plug Ins.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I watch a lot of Mix With The Masters & Pensado's Place and find inspiration by watching and listening from some of the great engineers in our industry. I enjoy looking up their work and studying their specific sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work consists of Mixing however I also work out of many different Recording Studios when I am booked by a select Client or Producer.
