I’m Kam Franklin, a professional singer, songwriter, and session vocalist specializing in soul, R&B, hip hop, blues, country, and zydeco. I am the lead vocalist of The Suffers and a contributor to the 2025 Grammy-nominated album A Tribute To The King Of Zydeco. I love building harmonies & background vocals. I deliver expressive lead vocals, toplines, vocal arrangements, and co-writing that bring songs to life across genres. My work has appeared in TV and film and with brands including Adidas, Kit Kat, and Mr. Robot.
I record all vocals in Logic Pro X using a Lewitt condenser microphone and can create rich layered harmonies and vocal choirs with my own voice. I’m known for emotional authenticity, technical precision, and taking direction efficiently to keep sessions smooth and productive. I work very fast, and I can usually deliver completed projects within 24-72 hours.
I am offering the posted introductory rates for early SoundBetter clients while building my profile and reviews, with quick turnaround and high-quality recordings.

Interview with Kam Franklin
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: All I do is sing. 😇
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: The tiny Lewitt interface I travel with, an SM58, a monitor for the playback, headphones, and a guitar. I’ll assume the island provides everything else lol
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been singing professionally for almost three decades. I started recording myself in 2019, and got more serious after connecting with my production mentor, Jim Eno of Spoon.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My voice is soulful and I got my start singing gospel in church as a child. I have a deep love for all music and try not to limit myself to any genre.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would have loved to have sang with Ray Charles or Roy Orbison.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: It’s not the gear, it’s the ear!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Soul, Blues, country, Americana, house, electronic, and hip-hop
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Authenticity, energy, and accuracy
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Logic Pro X and w Lewitt mic and interface.
