Interview with MusikByTrum
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: All my projects are hit records and beats. I love my creativity and my drive for music is one of a kind.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently working on a 6 track EP with some wonderful tracks on it. I'm also releasing a 10 track beat tape/album (Trumatized Beatz 2).
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: As of now, No!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like both analog and digital, but I would rather pick digital because you have more options to do more.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to all my clients is to deliver the best work possible not because I want the money but because I love it!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love hearing tunes and traveling to network with others
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Are you able to recreate a beat for me. Yes, but at a cost.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some people down play this music business as if it doesn't make money but it makes a ton of money. Working people don't take the music business serious.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How serious are you about your music career? How is your work ethic? Do you love what you do?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure you know what you want and never be afraid to try anything new!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook pro, external hard drive, midi keyboard, headphones and my keyboard workstation
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path started as a rapper and ended up turning into a artist, songwriter, music producer, beat maker and artist developer.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is versatile but I put my own sway into it. Everything I do is different or at least I try to be different.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Kanye West, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, 2pac, P Diddy, 50 cent. These guys know how to create hit records and market them.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always read and learn how to do what you do the best. Work ethic is key!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hipphop & Rap music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is creating beats.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I can bring a little spice to every song. It depends on what the song calls for and I can do that by listening to a hook or just the beat in general.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process is to get the beat prepared or pick or play a beat, try to catch a vibe to that specific beat to create the hook and then the verses. If it's a rap or hiphop song, I can direct which verse has to go first or last on a track. It's much more that goes into a studio session!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: monitors (Yamaha HS7), Arturia Keylab 49 Essential,
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Kanye West, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, 2pac, P Diddy, 50 cent,
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common service of work in the music industry is arranging producing the beat and arranging the structure of a song. A hit record has to have a specific ear to be great!
