My name is F. Allen Dickinson and as a long time songwriter and musician, I love recording and mixing songs into a work of art to be shared with fans worldwide. My goal is to help the Independent artists like you achieve great mixed recordings. My many years of experience performing, producing, recording, mixing and mastering music will help you to achieve the best sound for your masterpiece so that you too can share your love and passion with the world.

What’s included in a mix:
• Basic cleanup/editing of your audio wave files
• Gain staging
• Static mix
• EQ carving and compression
• Reverb/delay and effects
• Automation and sweeting

What’s not included in a mix:
• Fixing and/or repairing tuning and timing problems (these should be addressed in the recording phase)

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital because it's they way of the future and it's cost effective, which I can pass on the savings to the client.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: To deliver high quality production of their music that they can be proud of.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: I ask what their sound is and who I might listen to, to get a good idea of the direction for their song(s). I would then ask what it is they're trying to accomplish with those songs.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Hire someone that's good at listening and communication and a good ear for production.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: My Ibanez acoustic guitar, an iPhone and headphones to jot down my ideas.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: My path is that of a musician, songwriter and recording artist for the last 25+ years and now I do my own mixing, producing and mastering which allows me to get the client to where they want to be.

  16. A: One that is patient and good at communicating what they need and allows me the time to do what I do best, to create for them their masterpiece.

  18. A: Always start your mixing in mono and have a reference track to compare your mix to a professional mix.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Hard Rock (not metal), Rock and Soft Rock

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: Mixing, listening to the client and open communication.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: A long history of this industry being a musician and songwriter myself. A recording artist, producer, mix engineer and most recently about 5 years of mastering the song.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: I start with clean up and organizing of the audio files and gain staging. I then do a rough mix in mono and then move to processing the audio files with panning and plugins (including EQ and Compression).

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: A simple setup using Macintosh and Logic Pro X, KRK Rokit Monitors, Focusrite Scarlett interface, Roland XP-60 Keyboard, Charvel electric guitar, Ibanez Acoustic, Fender Bass and various microphones including Shure, Rode NT1 and Audio Technica.

  30. A: Chris Lord Alge, Greg Wells, Andrew Scheps, Robert (Mutt) Lange, George Martin and Eddie Kramer
