Interview with Toni Dijmarescu

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both are great options.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: An acoustic guitar would be enough.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: First, I listen carefully to the song and to the client's expectations and wishes; then, I start creating and recording the required parts.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I record and perform exclusively with the Kemper Profiling Amp, because it's the best and most reliable piece of equipment I've ever owned.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: I treat all my projects equally, I love them all.

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: A couple of new songs for an important project.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: I will always deliver what you have in mind.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: Making music, getting to know people.

  17. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  18. A: Q "Why on Earth didn't I hire you for my previous projects?" A "Because now it's the right time, so let's get to it"

  19. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  20. A: That I'm making lots of money.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Hire only the musicians who deliver quality work, on time.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Hard to define, because I play for/with the song and get into the song's mood.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Max Martin, because he is the best modern music producer, in my opinion.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Always deliver your parts 1-2 weeks before the deadline.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: From Classic Rock to Metal.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I can be creative (and put my own touch on the song) or play exactly as required - works both for me.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Too much to mention, from Abba to ZZ Top.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: Studio recordings, live/TV performances, songwriting.

  37. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  38. A: I make music since I was 6 years old, so my whole life. Got my first band at the age of 15, and my first record contract with 20.

  39. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  40. A: "What's the deadline?" :)

  41. Q: What's your strongest skill?
