SongzByMo

Songwriter/Lyricist

SongzByMo on SoundBetter

I write Grammy worthy songs tailoring each piece to the artist who’s singing it. My skills are cross genre having written Pop, Dance, RnB, Soul and Trap songs. I also ghostwrite for rappers. I’m willing to write for a share of the royalties and don’t usually ask for fees upfront - I believe in my songs that much.

M.J Sirat (SongzByMoe) is a Somali singer-songwriter/rapper/top liner/producer with ties to both London, UK and the Horn of Africa. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia and raised in both the UK and Ethiopia M.J Sirat (Mohamed Jamal Mohamed Sirat) grew up as a refugee between two worlds and naturally draws a distinct sound from both Africa and Western culture. M.J’s music lives in a space where Soul, RnB, HipHop as well as pop and Somali music merge to form a greater synthesis transcending all genres. With an infatuation for songwriting derived from the strict structural metre system of the creatively constrained poetry of the Somali language, spoken by a people dubbed the “Nation of Poets”, M.J has an almost Mozart like obsession with structures, an ear for the changing trends of music and a deep love for metaphors, word-play and rich content. Considering himself to be a “post post-modernist” M.J has a Masters Degree in International Relations, an eye for mens altering fashion, a wealth of unpublished poetry forming itself into a book and a heartfelt personal story about a boy escaping from a war zone and learning the English language through songs while battling with harsh memories, racism and xenophobia. His music include both English and Somali songs.
