Session Violinist

Jen on SoundBetter

Brooklyn-based session violinist specializing in acoustic, folk, indie/alternative, rock, and cinematic/classical-leaning works, from big productions to intimate DIY shows.

I am a Classically-trained violinist who performs anywhere from the big stages (Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Off-Broadway productions) to the intimate DIY shows. I love connecting and working out an experience that best evokes intention and motives through harmonic/octave layers, depth, and expansion of the root idea.

I arrange based on what I believe is needed for the integrity of the song, rather than what I can bring. Whether different parts of lyricism (if any) requires emotional support, the melody needs another "voice", or the song as a whole could use some ebb and flow, my hope is to build and support the sole message of your project. Therefore I am very flexible in the work progress, whether you have absolutely no idea what to do with strings, have some kind of idea jotted down, or an arrangement for me to evoke.

Favorite Genres: Classical, Soundtrack, Indie/Alt rock, Singer-Songwriter, and Folk.

Artists on repeat lately: Daniel Johnston, Phil Ochs, Mitski, Arlo Parks, Adrianne Lenker, boygenius, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Ludovico Einauldi, Olafur Arnalds

I look forward to getting to know you and creating together!
