Honestly, Aaron is such an innovative producer that puts his heart and soul into anything he does and it shows exponentially through his lyrics. He has such a great ear for melodies and crafting beats to match them. I recommend him to anyone who wants a different and unique sound from the ordinary.

Interview with AJ Francis

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I worked on a song with 2 of my brothers Seekrit and Dondspro. We made a track called "Think Twice". Now these guys are creative rappers and story tellers. They push the envelope and never settle to be an average rapper. Since they're creative they trust me to bring my creative nature to the song. I did the mix and elevated the sonic nature of it and i had so much fun. I rolled out of bed that morning and went straight to the session and worked on for hours without eating lol (i'm very passionate). Once it was completed we celebrated.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A Sample Pack Filled With Loops

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Doesn't matter whatever works.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: To give my all in every project i work on

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: It's fun and stress relieving. I get to do what i love and people trust the style of music i make.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: A lot of people don't know how much i do in music. My friends know me as a rapper but i quit rapping years ago and some think I'm trying to be famous and work in a music label lol which is completely wrong. Some also think it's just a hobby. I can't blame them though only i would know my own vision

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What are you looking for and what's the deadline.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Make sure you have an idea of what you want, because a lot of professionals are working on a lot of projects at once. Be kind we're human too :) we just want to be able to help.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: It would have to be acoustic instruments because i'm not sure how i would run a generator on a desert island. So ill have a grand piano, drums, a solar powered recorder.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I've been doing music all my life. Of course there were many detours but the music never left. I took Media Foundations in College as well as Network Engineering, but i rarely had an interest in Network Engineering. I've always known i would be a part of the music some how some way, may it be directly or in directly. I'm a self taught producer and mix engineer, i study a lot and trust my ears. This is a life long journey and i'm in it for the long haul

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: I'm always told that my style of music is either cinematic, or chill and laid back

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Not sure about artist but i would like to be an intern under these producers: Dr Dre, Mixed By Ali, and 40 Shebib

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: You don't need expensive gear you can get started on a iPad with garagband for free.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Hip Hop (not trap).

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Mentoring is my strongest skill, next is making chord progression loops.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: Warmth, authenticity, and passion. Everything i do is out of passion and the love of music and it's reflected in the work.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: Depends on what i'm working on. If its a beat and i'm inspired from just life as a whole the music just runs through me like water so i open my daw and just get started. Most times i start with a melody or sample. If i'm not inspired i usually just make loops and come up with chord progressions to save for later, Or sound design with pigments and make new sounds. If it's mixing usually the song speaks to me and then i hear all the transitions and editing I need to do in my head.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: It's simple but powerful. I have a Macbook Pro 2013, HD computer monitor connected with hdmi. Presonus E3.5 Monitors, Maschine Mikro Mk3, Komplete Kontrol M32, Alessis Recital 88 Key Piano. Rhode NT1-A Microphone, Zoom H5 Microphone. Soft Synths : Arturia Pigments.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: Mix Engineers: Dave Pensado, Mixed By Ali, Producers : Dr Dre, Focus, Aarab Muzik, Just Blaze, Quincy Jones

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: I usually get asked for advice on how to make drums punch in a beat, how to get started producing, or if i can mix a beat for somebody. A lot of people like my sound and i believe that knowledge is to be shared, so i share what i know.
