As a lyricist I always write to fit the songs vibe, for flow I focus on clarity and precision, and only deliver in professional quality. For production, I intend on creating a timeless feel whenever I can, all while staying loyal to the target artist's sound, and brand. For mixing, I target radio quality, for hip hop I make the important frequencies stand out where need be, and deliver a smooth professional mix.

Interview with Cooper Alexander
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Several singles and a group project.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Studio RED Productions
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Quality at an affordable price.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I'm sure you're looking for someone to bring your sound to life at an affordable price, or to add elements that'll take your sound to the next level. Not only can I do these things and more, I'm patient and will deliver whatever you need in a professional, timely manner.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Go with your gut, and what you think sounds good, not always with what you hear elsewhere.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a raven MTI2 for a mixer, an SSL2+ Interface to 2 JBL 308 Monitors, which run through a Samson D1500 for analyzing. The vocal booth usually has a Bluebird condenser but often cycles between an SM7B, and a Baby Bottle Blue Mic.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Beastie Boys, Kendrick Lamar, Avicii, Timbaland, Mike Shinoda
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My single, Number One. I wrote, recorded and produced the whole thing.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, due to my genre's mainly consisting of Hip Hop or EDM, analog doesn't really appeal to the sound nowadays. For rock, etc. Analog all the way.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get paid to express myself and share my passion with others who love it the same.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How quick can you get me a 16 bar rap verse? within 24 hours How fast can you make a beat? At most, 3 days. How quick can you mix an album? It depends on how great you'd like it to sound. To give it my best it could take up to a month depending on how long the album is.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: When rap gets brought up nowadays, it's more often than not associated with today's "hip hop" sound. My style is far from it, my style is closer to the authentic old school sound of hip hop rather than the current, but shares futuristic elements as well which are constantly evolving.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's the story behind this project? What/who inspires you as a musician? What are you looking to get out of hiring me?
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: One of my JBL PA's, My Imac, Interface, Komplete Kontrol keyboard, and Bluebird mic.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: DJ was my original craeer path which turned to lyricism shortly after. I've been DJing for almost 20 years now, and writing and rapping for about 18.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Authentic Hip Hop which often has a retro pop vibe.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Mike Shinoda, because not only could he share his expertise on being an artist, but also as a talented producer.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop and EDM
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Rap/Lyricist
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A unique High tone as a lyricist with a competitive flow, a genre blending sound as a producer, and professional quality at an affordable price as a mix engineer.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the project I'm hired for straight through, then listen again and take notes. Once note taken has been completed I assess the plan to complete whatever service I'm hired for, and go to work. If mixing, I start with gain staging and static mix, if writing or recording I create the melody and get going.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Recording a professional quality rap verse for their song.
