Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Do you think my song is any good? Let's not settle for good! Let's Knock Great right out of the park!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What style of gospel music do you sing? What keys are most comfortable for you to sing in? Are you looking to put this song on the market?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: The clearer you communicate what you want and need for your song, the better it will help us to get on the same page faster. It will cut down the amount of revisions you will need.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing the piano at the age of five. I played in my first gospel live recording at the age of 16. I started doing studio tracks at the age of 18 and now 21 years later I am still at it growing and learning every day.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Original, very internationally influenced
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Praise and Worship Music for my Church's Praise Team.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My daughters Christmas single called THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL. I produced and played all of of the music on this single. Look For it by Brittney Baldwin-Thomas.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Our New Praise and worship project from ( BALDWINS MUSICAL MINISTRIES )
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Most of the time people don't realize that we make all of our tracks from scratch.( YOU GET MORE MUSIC WITH LES BALDWIN!!! )
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Alvin Slaughter , Marvin Winans, Tasha Cobbs, Maranda Curtis, Marvin Sapp,William McDowell, Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, Kim Burrell,Todd Dulaney, Todd Galberth, Jonathon McReynalds, Jonathon and Jason Nelson. I would love to work with any of these artist because I love the ministry they have with their music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a midi setup with LogicPro X as my main DAW. A Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 audio interface, some presonus studio monitors , with a Bose sound bar and sub, and some three Mac computers, and some MXL microphones.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at this present time no.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: BOTH, technology has so advanced until we can now integrate the best that each has to offer in the same project , the fatness of analog with the clarity of digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise your tracks will be done in excellence. Customer service is top priority.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love making music .
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Roland A-88 Miidi Controller, My Mac Book Pro, My Focusrite Saffire PRO 40, My Bose Sound System ,My MXL mic.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My Professional music playing ability, and my ability to work with deadlines.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity to a song, what is the message or the purpose for the song? Everything has to be intentional.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is adding full music Instrumentation to their song ideas.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always complete your ideas, never put off for tomorrow what you can do today.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to start with a demo vocal or music track to get an idea of the song i.e. what type of (Gospel Style) Contemporary, Traditional, Praise and worship
