Hi, I'm Jon.

I am a passionate and experienced composer, sound designer, and music producer with a focus on crafting cinematic, immersive and emotive music & sound.

I've worked in the music industry for over a decade now. After having been part of various bands, played tons of gigs, and even toured Germany once, I realized that I prefer the studio desk over the stage. Since then, I've specialized in instrumental music, most notably modern classical, ambient cinematic, and modern hybrid soundtrack music. My work has been published by many renowned labels and featured on plenty of editorial playlists across streaming platforms and various media, including the Apple TV+ hit show "Severance" and the video game "Galactic Glitch".

When it comes to working on this kind of music and sound - whether it be a calm, intimate solo piano piece, a powerful, energetic synth track, or immersive, cutting-edge sci fi SFX - I am convinced that carrying emotion is the most important aspect. Interview with Jon Winterstein

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of my own studio in Hamburg, Germany. It is based around my iMac and my trusted Dynaudio speakers, as well as my collection of guitars (Fender, Martin, Gretsch, Yamaha etc.) and microphones (Neumann, AKG, Aston etc.), which I consistently use and misuse to create all kinds of sounds.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by everyone who loves their art and cannot exist without the drive to create. People who manage to use their art to make the world a better place are especially inspirational to me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in all things audio. I compose original music from simple piano lines to full tracks, mix and/or master existing songs and do sound design for film, TV or video games. To me, no audio project is too exotic to be considered.
