Bio:
Starting off in Bluegrass music at the age of seven; then, young Ian Kimmel made his first on-stage performances. Starting 2011, Kimmel’s acoustic band began winning numerous band contests. He has since gone on to perform border-to-border, coast-to-coast, and internationally. In 2014, Ian Kimmel walked away with SPBGMA’s coveted Mandolin Player of the Year award.

Kimmel, musically, has shifted from high gear into overdrive. Shifting his focus from performing to producing and mixing, Kimmel has shared the studio with countless Grammy winners. An honors graduate of Berklee College of Music's "Music Production and Engineering" program, Kimmel was awarded the MP&E Production Scholar Award, the top Production award by Berklee (only one awarded per graduating class). Kimmel then assisted the Katalyst Production Team (Ken Lewis/Brent Kolatalo) in until 2020. This team is credited with 7 Grammy's and over 100 Platinum and Gold records. Kimmel then joined "Invite Only" studio in New York City working exclusively with invited and world renowned clients.

Ian Kimmel has since had well over 10,000 hours of applying his talents in production, mixing, mastering, and engineering for major label artists and undiscovered independent artists.

Interview with Ian Kimmel

Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Extremely innovative. I know what a song requires to be commercially viable and reach a large audience, but yet I love taking a new step and finding whats different to make a record truly special.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The song belongs to the artist, not the producer. Be strong and honest with your opinion, but be willing to compromise.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My favorite music to produce is Pop music, focusing on electro-pop and signer-songwriter, although I do most of my work in Rap, Hip-Hop, and Trap music. On the total opposite end, I started off in Bluegrass and Country music. All this genre jumping makes me extremely proficient on what "good music" really is, regardless of genre.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My average workday consists of production for artists I'm developing, free-lance production, and mix and mastering work.
