Interview with Not Me

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am extremally proud of my musical project Wild Cards. It is no longer an active project but it will go down as the best 4 years of my life musically. Many memories and so much music that will never be forgotten.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am always working on lots of new things. Currently working on a lot of Composing for commercials and short films.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I do. He hoes by the name of Brody Low (part of a music group called Caslow) fantastic songwriter and producer.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: To be fair I generally work digital because of my age. I wasn't brought up working a ton of Analog however when I get the chance to work on Analog I take it. I really believe the creative possibilities with digital are endless and most work can sound just as good if not better than the analog professionals out there.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise that you will always be happy with your final product from me. Even if you don't like the first version I will make sure you receive exactly what you were looking to have done.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I LOVE working for myself. It gives me freedom to spend time with my family and my dog whenever I need. I think the freedom and balance to make sure you live a happy life is important. I also just really love what I do. Always have always will.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Generally pricing is one of the first questions asked, I like to gain in depth knowledge in your project before I quote out what I think is fair for my services.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Most people don't necessarily understand what I do (sometimes not even my parents) I try to explain to the best of my knowledge if someone has a question regarding what I do. Some people think I play classical piano at an opera house (hint I don't)

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: - What is your goal? - What type of project is this? - What do you want out of this project - How much time do you want to spend on it? - How did you find my name? - What about myself encouraged you to reach out?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I understand that finding someone to work with creatively can be scary and new. I have worked with mastering engineers, artists and vocalists many times throughout my career and you never know exactly how it might turn out. With great communication and agreement of the vision of our project I always believe everyone will end up being happy with a collaborative process in the end.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Guitar Laptop Solar Generator Keyboard Coffee Maker

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been working in this industry since I was 16. I started making music in my parents basement and later went to school for Audio Production and Engineering. I was apart of a music duo called "Wild Cards" for 4 years. In 2020 we took our different directions and I currently reside in Vancouver as a freelance composer, producer and sound designer.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Creative, and original. I try to keep my music and work detail oriented so listeners and watchers get pulled in.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would like to work with you! I have worked with many people over the years on a personal level but I find joy working with others and new people every day. It keeps my creative process alive. Always something new and different every time.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Mistakes end up making the best final project.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: I generally work in the evening. I find comfort working late and in a quiet environment. If im working on a music piece I always start by writing a piano piece.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: I am currently working out of my studio at home. Please reference my setup in my profile description. I take pride being in a comfortable space that makes me feel I can be the best version of myself.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: One of my biggest inspirations growing up was The Chainsmokers, I have been very honored to meet them, work on music surrounding their band and continue to work on my craft and have ongoing support from their team. Many artists inspire me to be the best I can. I am constantly listening to music, watching film and growing as an artist every day. You never stop growing.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Mixing, Mastering, Production and Sound Design.

  39. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  40. A: Pop, Dance, R&B and Cinematic music. Possibilities are endless. I'm always up for the challenge.

  41. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  42. A: Music production is one of my highest skills that I have, but am also very skilled in most areas of the music industry and film industry.

  43. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  44. A: Being original and unique is very important to me. I try to keep my "Sound" specific to others as I really try to stick out and gain a listener or watchers attention with details.
