Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: How much does a song cost? It depends on the scope: full production, recording, or finishing an existing track are different jobs. Send the material and what you need, and we'll agree on a project quote and deliverables before starting.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: What are you working on? Can I hear the demos and a few references? What's already recorded, what needs developing, how many songs are involved, and what are your timeline and budget? Do you want remote work or studio sessions?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Listen for work you connect with and talk through your vision before committing to a whole project. Share demos and references, be clear about what you need, and start with one song if you want to test the fit.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I came from West Virginia and spent years playing in touring bands before moving into full-time production and songwriting in Los Angeles. My released catalog spans more than a decade, and I still work on stage with select collaborators, including Chad Tepper as music director and guitarist.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Indie at heart: real instruments, character, space, and vocal arrangements. I like records with personality, whether the production is gritty and guitar-driven or more spacious and beat-focused.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Get the song and arrangement working before you spend hours polishing details. A strong performance and a clear musical idea will take you further than endlessly changing plugins.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Indie pop, alternative rock, pop, hip-hop, and reggae. The common thread is working closely with the artist and finding the sound that fits the song.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Getting into an artist's world quickly and keeping a session creative and moving. I can work across the whole record, so the songwriting, production, and final sound support each other.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: A songwriter's ear, a touring musician's sense of arrangement, and the ability to carry an idea through production, recording, mixing, and mastering. The goal is to make the song feel finished while keeping the artist's personality intact.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: We start with your demo, references, and what you want the record to feel like. Then we agree on the scope, work through songwriting and arrangement where needed, record and build the production, and finish the mix and master. For larger projects, we can start with one song to establish the sound and working relationship.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: Discarnate Recordings is my North Hollywood studio. I work in Logic Pro, recording vocals, guitars, bass, and occasional live drums. The setup includes a Sony C-80, Shure SM7B, Fender Stratocasters, and a Fender Jaguar Bass. Remote collaboration is also available.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: Danger Mouse, Rick Rubin, Kenny Beats, and Mark Ronson — producers who can step into an artist's world and help bring out its identity.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Full production for singles and EPs: developing the song, building the arrangement, recording vocals and instruments, then mixing and mastering. I also take on existing demos or sessions that need finishing, and standalone mix/master projects.
