I'm Jimbo, better known as Jaytech. I am regularly involved in the creation of records that receive millions of streams and have toured globally as a DJ since 2006. With over a decade of experience as a dance label A&R, I regularly work with artists to bring their music to its fullest potential and offer mix, master and production services.
Audio has been my passion for over 15 years and I am known for featuring new artists on my radio show and podcast, Jaytech Music. In addition to regularly screening tracks for the show, I also have a long history assessing and improving new music as a previous label A&R for Anjunabeats / Anjunadeep.
As an artist I have worked on hundreds of records, including the creation of two US iTunes #1 dance albums (Anjunadeep 02 & 03) and a Beatport Trance #1 and numerous records in the Top Ten. I'm here to help you get the most out of your music and can also assist with industry advice and sending tracks to labels.

Interview with Jaytech | James Cayzer
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Clients are requested to send all parts with EQ and compression removed, spatial effects can be left on if desired. My first step is to identify which musical elements shine through the most, and what the artist is aiming to convey with their music and mix. A rough mix from the artist is kept in the project at all times. From there, I analyse what aspects of the record can be emphasized to make it really shine. To finish, masters are amplified to industry standards and tested again similar tracks to check things like balance in the frequency spectrum.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I began with a classical background in piano, which I have played since the age of six, and released my first vinyl record in 2001, when I was 16. I began studying at the Canberra School of Music in Australia before discontinuing when my electronic career started taking off. After relocating to the UK, I spent three years touring the world with trance stars Above & Beyond and worked as a studio engineer for their Anjunabeats record label in London. Now located in Phoenix, I still work with Anjunabeats from time to time and also release music on my own label, Positronic.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I really enjoy seeing the diverse range of ways people put their tracks together, and mixing music for others helps me with my own music as well.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: There are no wrong answers when it comes to requests or desires for approach to your mix - it is your music and your message. A good mix engineer will adapt to their clients' wishes and will happily make any changes required, so do not be afraid to ask.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Forward-thinking melodic electronic music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Hans Zimmer - one of the great composers of our time, and he has an amazing studio!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If you can use as little EQ as possible during the creation process, you'll place more emphasis on choosing the right sounds and fitting things together more organically, allowing for a more natural-sounding mixdown later on.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My main love is electronic music, namely progressive house and trance. I have also worked with acoustic, experimental and pop music, as well as music for advertising.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Having spent the last decade touring globally, I've been able to experience first-hand how tracks translate between small systems (such as laptops and iPod earbuds) to large festival scenarios with 10,000+ people.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I regularly help artists hone in on the best aspects of their sound that might often be overlooked by others, and bring them forward so that they may be better presented to the world.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I provide full stereo mixdowns of tracks with option of club and radio-ready mastering.
